Default 8yo DS does everything so slowly!!!

    Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone else may have experience with this? My DS is in year 3 at school and his last report card stated that he is very slow with his work and struggles to finish most things. I spoke to the teacher about this yesterday and it clicked with me that this has been going on for a while. When he was doing swimming lessons he did everything right but it was like it was in slow motion. The same with tasks at home. I have to follow him around asking him over and over to put his shoes on because asking him once and leaving him to do it means 10 mins later he will be sitting on the floor with one shoe half on. I have been googling some forums and the term "slow processing speed" has come up and seems to be very similar to what he experiences. I have just rung UQ and made an appointment for a cognitive assessment but I was hoping to speak to someone who may have also gone through this, what helped and what outcomes you had. Thank you in advance!
    * I forgot to mention, DS is also quite intelligent. Somehow the teachers realise this even though they are not seeing it reflected in his schoolwork. They stated in his report that he is not working to his full potential. Thank you!!
