Default Sending gifts from aus to UK?!?

    Hi everyone!
I'm a 20 year old boring mum who decided to start pen palling a lovely lady my age from the uk.
I decided I'd like to send her and her DS a small little package for Christmas this year as a Suprise, but I have no idea what to send!! Please help! I don't want anything to get taken either and I know there are a few things it can't send but I'm not sure exactly what they are any help would be appreciated

You could send a copy of the book Possum Magic. It has a lovely Australian theme in it. X

We always send Aussie themed calendars to family in the UK & vice versa. They are light so cheap to post & it's nice seeing the pictures all year. This year we got sent a Scottish "hairy coo" calendar from my aunt.

And check with Aust post for their cutoff for sea mail delivery for Christmas, it can be as early as September!

'Six White Boomers' book is something I sent my UK friends at Christmas and they loved it, and also anything Steve Parish, such as his calendars and books, especially his soft colour ones as they're nice and light to post.

The other thing to remember is that the import duty kicks in at really low values in the UK so be careful what you send / write on the outside otherwise HMRC will impound it and extort 20% VAT (and potentially import duty too - 2.5% iir) from your penpal (https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty). I was amazed (and sooooo happy) when I got here and saw the limits =D

I am probably going to sound very very dumb, but what does any of that mean?! Hahaha

Here's a list of what I'm planning to send, maybe you could help with what I'm supposed to do and how to go about it please?

    Possum magic (book)
    5 face masks
    5 deep hair conditioning treatments
    1 jar vegemite
    1 pack tim tams
    1 pack jaffas
    Small tin of milo
    2 cherry ripes
1 baby outfit and 2 adult sized shirts
