But images like that serve to scandalize and sexualise breasts, which is detrimental to the normalization of breastfeeding.

I agree but there's a breast that's exposed a little whilst feeding a baby and there's the 'hey I'm hot! Look at my boobs, aren't they sexy!?'

Can't the same be said about men's health magazines then? All about having red hot abs? Isn't that sending the wrong message to younger men? They have shirtless men on the front, not that different.

I think you are reading too much into this.
Car mags have women in a bikini, have for many years and will for years to come. That's never going to change. Sex sells.
If you have a problem with the message it sends women then do u have a problem with men's health mags? Does my son have to grow up seeing those magazines thinking a man must have a ridiculously chiselled body? That's the message of those covers.

Just to add - not all car mags have women in a bikini on the cover, street machine being the most obvious. Rare to see a woman on the front. They don't need it. Hot4s on the other hand.. That magazine is crap so yep probably the only way to sell it.

Oops meant to quote not thank.

I have an issue with the men's mags too.

Nothing will ever change though if we all have this attitude that it won't change.

Is it though? Look it's completely up to you or others whether you find this a problem but all the comments saying it's just a bikini I think are really looking at this at face value. If this was a woman selling Rusty bikini's I wouldn't be offended. it isn't the bikini. It's the pose. It's very sexual and 'playboy'. I find it odd people can't make the distinction between wearing a bikini around your kids pool side and this mag?

I would of been very tempted to turn the magazines backwards. Hate the objectification of women (and men!) that happens in magazines. None of it is healthy at all

I would of loved to say something to the store manager but I have a feeling my anxiety would of prevented me.

Sure, you are entitled to think that but I wonder if maybe you aren't reading enough into it.

and IMO this image is completely different to people enjoying time at the beach, I have never seen a person posing in such a sexual manner at the beach and if I did I would probably give them the evil eye and avert my children's attention.

I don't feel I need to. As much as I think it's tasteless (which I do. Believe me I think it's horrible having women posted on mags with barely anything on) it's never going to change. The same for music videos, TV shows and movies. It's always going to be there.

Instead of a photo of a woman which says "awesome weather, great surf and I'm going to enjoy it, what a great country we live in" it says "look at my boobs. Mmmm. But this magazine and I will let you have a perve-a-rooni."

    Two totally different messages.
I buy those magazines and fast fours etc... (Well used too before I tightened the budget!). I definitely think it's how your raised and raise kids. I just think nude is nude it's how we objectify women for instance someone in a bikini isn't far less than someone dressed in a one piece... It would be like saying cover up because your breast feeding? We don't though because we raise children to know why etc.

Lubricant etc, and dildos are also sold eye height too now at shopping centres at Coles etc
