I'm so sorry💕 I haven't read others posts, but I would suggest going to the $2 shop and get your kids to pick out a frame each that they like and choosing a picture of your loved pup to remember her by. It does get easier. Xox

    I'm so sorry.

I've never had to put a pet to sleep, they've only ever died naturally.

Never the less I still miss my cat and bird more than 10 years later.

You did the right thing, there's no pain anymore.

I hope you Dh and your kids all are ok.

    xx

Sorry for your loss. It will take time but try and take comfort in knowing that you did what was best for her. Hard as it was.

I havent read all the replies to sorry if this has already been said.
We very recently lost our little dog. She had conjestive heart disease and was very very sick.
I was ill over the fact that we would have to put her to sleep. I said to DH that i would never male the decision and he would have to make. I hated putting that on him but there was no way i was going to make that choice. I couldnt.

We booked her in and it couldnt have worked out better. We had her booked in for when both the kids were at school. They knew she was sick and might die. We had explained that she had something wrong with her heart and she was very sick and in pain. We did say we were taking her to the vet to be put to sleep and in all honesty, i would want my kids seeing that. She was so unwell that the excitement of the car ride actually gave her a massive heart attack and she was pretty much gone when we went in the room. The vet did give her a shot though as she wasnt quite gone. She make the choice for us though (that goodness).
We took her home and put her on her bed. We covered her so just her face was showing so the kids could say goodbye. We did have to wipe some foam away from her mouth and nose though. We made cross and the kids decorated it when they got home. We buried her together and it was nice.

We didnt want our kids to think we had killed her so we did it without them. I also wouldnt have wanted my kids to see me so sad and crying. It was horrible.

Previously we had our other dog put to sleep (same kind of illness). He wasnt quite to gone though. He got up one night, wet himself, vomited and fell over. We knew it was time. Your dog will let you know when they are ready. Weird i know but trust me, you will know. This time was different as he wasnt quite do gone. He actually perked up while we were waiting for the vet. It was so horrible. I felt guilty for a long time about it.
Basically they come in, give your animal a shot and they fall down and dont get up. Its very peaceful. They give you plenty of time to say good bye and when you are ready they come and do it. They leave you alone once its done until you are ready to leave. Its horrible but its not gory or scarey.

Im so sorry. Its a horrible thing to have to do.
