Hey AnnaMM & Chanel78...welcome to you both! I'm pretty new here also trying to make the big decision about going O/S for DE, but these women are very helpful and inspiring.

AnnaMM is not about how much you've gone through.... everyone has their own story. And yours is just as painful, coz its yours.
Sorry Chanel78...that is one that I haven't been on, but I'm sure someone will have used it and get back to you.

    Good luck!

i read your "short" story and my heart goes out to you . still, now that you have found a really good doc (dr k) and facility, there is still so much potential.

i resonate with a c ouple things in your story: the age, being single, and going broke! i went broke - i mean totally - and expecting my twins in mid january. halleluya-
so just want to add some (unasked for) gentle advises:
to make such a leap of faith in life - be faithful! however you do it: prayer , rosaries, dance, affirmations, getting dressed every day so that you feel like the goddess incarnate.....how ever works for you....BE faithful as you leap. and wise--
so second point - wise - -i have seen many times that women who get either diagnosed or treated curtly or both (as you desribe) have trouble finding their own "fertile empowerment" again. its like it gets taken from them by the "establishment" of docs. firstly, with dr nikos, who is a tremendously prime example of the best- you will already start feeling again your fertile empowerment. but there is more: LOVE your womb and body! make it true that your womb is rich, warm, cozy, powerful and bright - so that it will take the gift the docs will give. they only give the "base" your body has to be ready and able to step up to the rest. AND IT CAN!
(not to underplay docs, but just to put us women, each on our pwn path, back at the center...so that each one can have the best chance for success)
so to be in your fertile empowerment again - - that is specific for you- you know how. think of things like exercise, belly dance, self womb massage in lovely baths, toning, chant, walks in the wild where green things grow...nutrition...diet....supplements as needed - one hint: tons of red raspberry leaf tea!

    all the best,
    mermaid +2

Welcome to all the newbies here @MamaKes @AnnaMM @Chanel78 It is an amazing journey and I wish you all the best. @mermaiddance your post was lovely. I'm on the raspberry leaf tea everyday also. We are off in 79 days.. but who's counting. @Chanel78 please ask Dr K if you are unsure of how to take your meds - he is the one that has prescribed them to you and will advise how to take. Everyone's experiences here will be different. I know it will be worth it when we have our bundles in our arms.

Thanks Jaydee32 for the lovely welcome! I'm really struggling to decide whether to go to Cape Town and have total choice and info disclosure over my donor or to head to Greece/Spain and we reasonably unaware. I see the pros and cons in both. However I am a person for whom too much choice makes decisions hard as a flip back and forth between shortlisted donors and doubt myself. Did you choose Greece for this reason among others?

Hi ladies, i initially looked into going to Hawaii for os donor egg cycle because a friend had done so and had twins. And yes you get to select your donor and see pics etc... in the end it was just going to cost way too much! (Around $50k all in). Then i found this thread and didn't look any further - i didn't research any other countries to be honest as read such wonderful things about Dr K and embryoland that i felt i would be in good hands. So helpful to hear from women who had been through it already and take their advice.
I actually prefer not knowing who my donor is - i think it is healthier for me as i may obsess about it too much otherwise. I am currently pregnant and awaiting my 6 wk scan next Fri so things have gone wonderfully up til now.
Good luck with your decisions! I'm sure you'll find what feels right for you. X

Laiylabelle how exciting coming up for a scan! Is this your first scan? How does it work in terms of counting "6 weeks" as I know you had your positive blood test mid November so not sure how they count weeks in DE cycle? Following your progress with excitement and all fingers crossed!!

I did heaps of research and ultimately it came to the fact that I didnt know who the donor is but after seeing the positive results of Dr Kanakas, his rapport and the anonymity we chose Greece. His BFP rate is excellent. We only did two OE donor cycles but luckily our Fertility specialist laid it out to us that it was unlikely to happen with my eggs. (which is ironic given that when we started IVG due to MFI).

@Jaydee Wow that says a lot for Dr Kanakas! How does his stats compare with other places/countries? Is Greece and SA on par?

Hey girls, iv been a bit unwell and working shift work as well. So just checking in. Hi to all the New Girls. Dr Kanakas is wonderful and are whole Greek experience. He does look in here from time to time so please use his name and Embryoland that saves any confusion. He is available most of the time and will fit in skype between patients if needed. I wish I had gone after the 3rd failed Ivf.
Well my 12 week scan is on tuesday. So nervous and excited. Vomiting and dry reaching tho but at least it means Im still pregnant.
After my first Skype we didnt look back. Good luck Girls and enjoy the wonderful country and islands. We also popped over to London for the weekend. Seen amazing sites and have a peanut on the way. Xx
