I'm still here in the background hearing all the lovely stories of pregnancy and hope, everyone here deserved it after all we have been through just to get here.
kcraig, like the other ladies I bleed throughout my first trimester, probably about 5-6 times and each time I thought it was over. It is really common, but still bloody scary. Try to send good vibes to your bubba to make it through. These little ones are tough as we get the fighters and strongest ones implanted.

Hi folks I’m sorry for the length of our post, once I got started it was rather cathartic and I found it hard to truncate it. I’ve also posted to all three forums so I hope that isn’t the wrong thing to do.

We’re new to the egg donor forums, though after spending the enormous amount of time we have stalking/reading the Greece, Czech Republic & South African DE forums reading all the amazing stories, I almost feel like I know some of you, if not just your stories. It certainly has been a roller coaster of a read….we’ve shed a few tears with your disappointments and felt the elation with the news of your BFP’s and the births of your babies.

After not a terribly long (compared to some), but rather intense IVF journey, my partner and I have been advised by our specialist to seek out a younger donor to increase our chances of successfully bringing a baby or two into our lives.

As we’ve read, many of you have made the decision to go O/S for DE with great success, some of you are either embarking on your journey in the near future for the first time or for the second and I guess some of you are still grappling with the decision like us.

We are about to transfer a frozen donor egg embryo from my sister, it isn’t great quality and Warren doesn’t seem to think that it will grow to day 5 once we thaw it. The quality of this embryo and my sisters low AMH (1.6-less than mine) is the main reason it was recommended that we don’t pursue another cycle with my sister. This was a savage blow as she was always our back up plan, so needless to say, ‘things have turned to custard!’

During this FET cycle we’ve both been taking Warren’s ‘magic cocktail’ of supplements and we need to decide by CD20 whether or not to start down reg for a fresh cycle should this FET not have a positive outcome. Although it has been strongly advised that we don’t bother and save our money for a ‘holiday’, we are certainly torn between giving it ‘one more shot’ with our new FS Warren or heeding the advice. If we do go ahead with one more fresh cycle using OE it will certainly be our last and it may possibly be the end of the road for us.

My heart gets heavy and the tears come easily at the thought of giving up…so I know it can’t be the end of our journey. But I also don’t want to ruin us financially or mentally as we also need to finish renovating our house so we have somewhere to live and my partner works away and he’d like to be able to someday come home to be a Dad should we be lucky enough to have children (until we’ve finished IVF and renovated he can’t or none of this will be possible).

So I guess I’d like to ask some questions….
    1. What was your pivotal moment when you gave up on your OE and decided to use DE?
    2. Did any of you try for DE in Australia? And how did you go about it?
    3. How did you make your choice on which country to go for DE? And which clinic?
    4. Have you used more than one O/S clinic in more than one country?
    5. If you are patient of Warren’s is there a clinic he prefers to deal with?
    6. Will/does Warren test for all immune issues automatically and then use the immune protocol?
    Thanks for listening/reading

Hey and welcome. I was about to embark on my 6th round of ivf. My Dr suggested I look into options. I started googling and came across this post. I then emailed the clinics for advise and cost. I new how hard and long it takes here in Australia and to import eggs can cost about $20k plus ivf costs.
The clinics all got back to us and had my Skype with Embryoland. I just new that was who I wanted to deal with and they have had wonderful success in the last 6 months. It did not take long at all to get things organised and for the cost of Ivf here We had the trasfer and a wonderful holiday and lifetime experience as well.

Hello and welcome :-). Hopefully this last FET is your magic cycle and you don't need OS DE - but just in case, my answers to your questions are ...
    - my pivotal moment was after my 6 th cycle, I had changed FS, had thrown everything at it, and had my worst cycle ever (I'm a very poor responder to meds). My new FS had brought up DE in our first appointment, I just knew after the cycle I did with him that there was no point continuing to flog the proverbial horse ...
    - I didn't try DE here, it was too expensive to use the world egg bank, I was confident the egg donors here would choose younger couples not us, and I wasn't comfortable with the lack of anonymity and introducing a stranger to our lives forever.
    - in terms of choosing my clinic, I followed my FS recommendation to Genesis clinic in Greece. My DH is Greek so Greece made sense. As it turned out, my experience Henesis was awful (although I did get pregnant - miscarried at 7 weeks). I researched Greek clinics and found Fertility Friends, a U.K. Website. I did lots of reading, contacted Serum and Embryoland, I felt more comfortable with Penny than Dr K, and that was that.

    Can't comment on Warren :-)

    Good luck with your transfer!

    Welcome Gen72!

As well as my age I had chromosomal issues so did a few very expensive PGD cycles before seeing sense. I never would have imagined I would consider DE but here I am sitting in Penny's apartment in Athens (going to Serum). I did hours and hours of research and skyped 5 clinics across Greece, Czech Republic and Spain before making my decision which was based on success rates but also gut feel when I spoke to penny.
At the end of the day I'm sure all of us will be advocates for either serum or embryoland although it does seem there are some dodgy clinics out there too.

I discounted SA because it is not anonymous and the process of selecting a donor ourselves was just too daunting... Also I felt like Vixjc that finding an Australian donor would be another fruitless task and I didn't want to waste any more time. Cost came into my decision to rule out Spain, and to be honest I would have fancied CZ more from a holidaying perspective but just didn't get the same feel...

It is pretty strange being here. Lining scan tomorrow then hopefully we will get the 2 day warning for egg collection/ DH sperm... Wish us luck!! Xxx

Gen72 thanks for sharing your story. These are emotional times for you and we all understand.
I had 6 ivf using my OE. Every time we only collected 1 egg which was not the right quality. I did not respond to meds at all. In fact i also did a natural cycle where there r no meds until after egg collection and I had 3 eggs collected but still poor quality. That was when we started considering Oseas.
Australia was not an option for the lack of anonymity and v long waiting list.
There are always reservations using donor eggs but for us it is our last option.
The ivf journey has kind of affected my health and is now making it harder to prepare for DE. My thyroid started playing up and I started developing ulcer like symptoms. I am trying to get myself back on track healthwise to hopefully see Dr K in Jan16. I hope and pray that first of all I will fall pregnant and secondly that I'd be able to carry it full term which I guess is all everyone on this forum hopes for.

    Good luck Gen72!

And Gen72 we chose Dr K because he seems like a caring professional which is v hard to find and chose Greece as DH is Greek....nothing scientific about these choices. Just gut feelings...
    All the best!

    Default Donor Eggs Greece Journey

Hello Ladies! I've just in the last few days been recommended to jump on to this forum as I'm in Greece as I write this on my DE journey. I've spent much of the day reading through everyone's journey and can relate to each of your journeys in some way. I wish I had come across your forum before, by the sounds of it Embryoland and Dr K is the way to go! My Dr is Dr Pantos who is based out of Genesis Hospital. We were referred to him through a clinic in Sydney called Pathways to Parenthood. Nobody has mentioned them on here which makes me worried and also I can't find a lot of people talking about it either on any forums. I'm scared to ask but does anyone have any feedback on either Dr Pantos or Genesis?...we are busy waiting for our donor to be ready which is a tough and long wait. DH is doing his best to keep me busy and calm. Thank you all for sharing your journeys, it's a difficult one so it's nice to find some comfort on here. Goodluck to all of you, wishing you all lots of baby dust. 😊x
