Hi Laylabelle of course! Whatever works for you and makes you happy. I wish you the best of luck.

We are going with Dr NK as well! We've had a couple of skypes with him and even though we were also in contact with 2 other clinics, he was the one who came across as v caring and confident. We've been treated like crap at Aussie clinics for over a yr now. Someone who doesn't treat us just like a number is bound to win our hearts.....As for going with our heads we couldn't make up our minds. A couple of other clinics state that their donor selection criteria is different but they are not willing to release any paperwork or test results on the donors to prove that....

All I'm on at the mo is contaceptive pills though. Dr NK wants to get my periods regular. Mine have never been regular. I asked him if I need to do some procedures like hysterctomy or laprascopy but he says no because I don't have a history of abortions or miscarriages. I feel restless. Like I need to be doing more to prep. I can always ask my FS to write tests up for me. I want us to be prepared. As well as we can be anyway.

Has anyone been given specific tests by Dr NK?

I'm in Crete and am going to head to a lab today recommended by a pharmacist to see if they can do me a blood test to confirm.
@brimrush, have you tried a urine test in the meantime? I told Dr K that I didn't know how easily I would be able to get a blood test on my test day and he said not to worry, just to use home pregnancy tests.

Good luck everyone, this is such an unreal experience. You have helped me all so much through this really stressful time.

WohoooooO! !! CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP

You must be so EGGcited !!!! I love hearing positive stories on here !! !

I did like 10 urine tests before I did a blood test ! Watching the line get darker was fun !!

Enjoy your holiday and relax !! I'm here freezing my butt off in Brisbane.

I cant wait to hear the other women with their BFP stories too !!

    take care and celebrate

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the lovely messages. You guys are pretty much the only people who know so it's so awesome being able to share the news, even though it doesn't feel real yet!

The first hpt test I did this morning was a complete dud, didn't get a control line or anything. Was such an anticlimax! Glad I pee'd in a cup so I could try again!

So the pathologists in Crete are super efficient and I went for a blood test at 10 am and had the results emailed at midday to say my HCG is at 540 mIU/ml which I hope is a good thing!

I called Dr Kanakas and he was so delighted with my news. He says at the moment he's getting an 80% success rate with us Aussies. He said that he might pass my email address on to some ladies who are planning or just thinking of going to Embryoland so I can tell them all about my experiences so if that's any of you, please feel free to ask anything! As a lot of other ladies have said, I can't recommend Dr Nikos Kanakas or Embryoland highly enough. It has been the most straight forward part of my whole fertility journey and he's been so caring, enthusiastic and positive.

For those after a bit of info on any pre-treatment, I'd had a laparoscopy to remove a bit of endometriosis and my tubes checked out as fine. This was recommended by my specialist from Monash before we tried IVF, even though my egg count was non existent. Any way, Dr Nikos didn't advise I needed anything. I went on the pill to regulate my periods (as they got a bit irregular since the second we started trying for a baby 2 years ago) and to make it easier to sync me with a donor and I had a few months before I wanted to travel (needed to sort out work commitments). But Dr Nikos advised he was able to find me a donor almost straight away. Then that was pretty much it. He emailed a prescription for some Progynova and the pill, which I took to my GP who was happy to write me an Australian prescription for them (the chemist wouldn't accept the Greek one from Embryoland). Then I started taking the Progynova when I got my period just before I was about to travel. I didn't have any scans or anything until I arrived in Athens on my day 12 but apparently that would still have given enough time to up any dosages in case my lining wasn't quite ready.

Love to everyone and good luck @brimrush

    Hello!

I have some good news.....POSITIVE result with my blood test!! WOW, can't believe it.

My hcg level is 998, I'm day ten after a 5 day transfer, is that about normal?

Dr Nikos wants me to start on Clexane injections, did he suggest this to anyone else? I'm not sure if English chemists will accept his prescription?

Sorry for short message, I've been meaning to post all day but I've not had wifi!

    Xxxxxxx

Piratemaster thank you for that. Dr NK has given me the same prescription. We are hoping to see him end of Sep. He wants me to have a couple of regular periods at least. I am excited and nervous and worried all at the same time!

I am delighted for you though and thanks for sharing!
    xx

    WohoooOOoooo !! another BFP !!!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Your hcg sounds high !! I bet there are twins in there !!!!

    I hope so !!

As for clexane my FS here had me on it before I went to Greece and I took it until 12 weeks, I was on 8 progynova a day and my FS specialist here said since I was on so much oestrogen it would decrease the risk of blood clots, especially since I was flying ...Dr Kanakas gave me a script and I got a few packets of the Greek ones while I was there, much cheaper than here..I had a shopping bag full of meds when I left Greece.

As for obtaining clexane at home, I would go to a local doctor, where ever you are from and show them Dr Kanakas' scripts and I'm sure they will do them up for you.

Once again congratulations to all the women in Greece getting preggy !!!! I'm so happy for you and I wish you all a smooth and successful pregnancy.
