Justcantstop I have never had a hysteroscopy or Aquascan or anything more than internal ultrasound to count follicles so I guess that's why I am erring on the side of having it checked out especially as I know I have fibroids. I can understand why there is no need to have the tests repeated though if you have had them as part of oe IVF

Is anyone concerned that with everyone having to deal in cash more than ever, and the obvious financial problems of the Greek people, that things will become desperate and tourists might become targets for mugging etc? I am beginning to wonder whether we should be thinking of a plan B just in case things get worse but maybe I am being paranoid??

Chillout I doubt it very much. The way I see it is if Greece exits Euro then it would become a better situation for tourists. Drachma would be cheaper and our dollar or USD would go a long way.

I have been to far worse countries like Indonesia and Malaysia (where mugging is an issue). You just lock your money in the safe in the hotel and take a small amount in a money bag or in your pocket for daily spend.

It would be a huge mistake for them to close these fertility clinics as well since we all are such a huge contributors to their cash flow!! 😉😆

Nope :-). I'd feel safer walking down a dark alley of Athens at night with $50k in my back pocket than I've felt down a main street of Delhi with $5. There is crime all over the world. London, New York, Sydney, Melbourne, Alice Springs! All we can ever do is be smart about how we travel. I do think the media is painting the situation to be more dramatic than how the Greeks are actually handling it as a people.

Travel smart and safe and you will be just fine, you will meet some amazing kind and generous Greeks along the way, (and may also hear and see some sad situations just as you can in any country - ever been to San Francisco?!) and with a little luck, you will also come home with some very special cargo :-D

Thanks Cherrycp :-) I just want everyone to find the clinic that resonates with them and leads them to their very own bub (and to be as blissed out as I am with being a mum!), and as much as I love penny and Serum, I know that no one clinic is perfect for everyone.

So looking forward to some more BFP's!!!

Hi Vixjc, If we all end up with BFP's - perhaps we could start up a thread like: "Pregnant ladies from DE in Greece"...? Just joking!!!

    Hi everyone
We are leaving Mykonos this arvo and seeing Dr Kanakas tomorrow for our egg transfer. I am feeling happy, nervous, excited and positive. Although I was feeling a bit sad last night as out of our 9 eggs, 6 fertilised and 4 have developed. So I dont know if I am being silly but I was really hoping for more beautiful embryos as a back up if it doesnt work. I have to be careful not to get way ahead of myself though because I havent even had the transfer yet. And we know that Dr Kanakas will look after us. I am lucky and we are so grateful so no negative thoughts.
I hope that you are all well and thankyou for the support. This forum is awesome. Much love xxx

Oooh! Good luck Kimmy! It's so hard not to hope for a couple of embies transferred and ten for the freezer hey, unfort it doesn't usually happen (although I do know of one girl who has 22 frosties from one donor cycle - amazeballs!), but the good clinics always focus on quality over quantity and don't over stimulate the donor, so 4 good embies is a great haul. Like the girls have said, think lots of happy positive snugly thoughts and let Dr K work his magic. Will be crossing everything for you x

Wow isnt this thread booming !! wohooo !!! Opa off to Greece you all go !!

I'd like to thank everyone for the birthday wishes, OMG I'm 45 and pregnant, I didnt think this was possible !! but I'm one happy woman thanks to Dr Kanakas at Embryoland!!

I went for a sneaky 16 week scan for my birthday to see if I could find out the sex of my baby since I'm really excited to know. Mum came along and she and Dr Alexander both looked at the screen and said "Its a boy"..then he goes, " wait that could be the placenta"...and the baby moved and moved and moved and moved...he couldnt get a clear picture. We stopped and sat and talked and then I asked if he could look again ! It was my birthday after all, and again mum and Dr Alex hogged the screen and looked and looked. In the end he said "70% chance of a boy, but dont buy any boy clothes yet"...grrrr So now i wait for my 20 week scan in 3 weeks !! exciting stuff, I cant wait to know if its a she or he???? I really dont mind either way !!! I feel blessed to be here in this position. I've only gained 2 kgs and have a huge appetite. I also have a touch of heartburn here and there but otherwise feel great !! Not as tired as in the first 12 weeks and I still have the libido of a porno star, without the actual partner to go with it. I'm destined to be single forever it seems. But I'm happy since I have my bubby growing inside me and every day I check the heartbeat to say good morning and I sometimes get a small tear in my eye when I hear its little galloping heart. Ahhh.

I asked my Dr if it was ok to use it, he said yes, but not to stress if I don't hear a heartbeat, since the baby will move up soon..I havent quite popped yet..I look like I drink a lot of beer, I cant wait to look super pregnant !!

I wish everyone good luck that is going to Greece! I wouldnt worry about the financial crisis, as it seems business is normal. Talk to your doctor about it, if you are going to see Dr Kanakas, he will be honest and upfront and tell you if there are any concerns. Some people are talking about pick pockets and stuff like that, I think the gypsies only travel in high season and to be honest, I bought a pacsafe bag that is gypsy proof. I used it when I was in Serbia for Guca music festival, surrounded by 100 000 people and gypsies everywhere and nobody got into it ! Check them out online. They are slash proof, gypsy proof, pickpocket proof! no way they can get into them !! I use it all the time here at home, just cause it has so many compartments and is a comfortable bag.

Some people are also talking about some Ruth lady and using her as an agent? Why?? ?I'm sure she would charge for her services and personally I much preferred going directly through Dr Kanakas for all my questions and answers. Why go through a third party and go through more expense and confusion. When I first rang Embryoland, the receptionist spoke only Greek and I said " English, you speak English?" She then connected me straight to Dr Nikos Kanakas, and he then spent some time with me on the phone explaining how donor embryo works, along with sperm donation etc. He was so polite and kind that I automatically felt at ease knowing I had contacted the actual doctor who would be working with me. Using a third party I would not have felt comfortable and dealing with a nurse or agent is not as personal as talking directly with the doctor doing your procedure. That is my opinion, since I truly believe I am very lucky that he spoke to me that day, or I would have not felt as comfortable or ready to fly to Greece. He always checked on me and asked how my lining was going, and agreed with the medications my doctor here prescribed. Dr Kanakas was not a fan of clexane prior to transfer, but he agreed that since I was on so much oestrogen, that the possibility of blood clots increased and especially flying. So I was on Clexane until 12 weeks, as much as I hated it, it helped blood flow and also stopped any clots. I'm currently still taking baby asprin daily for the same reason, guided by my O.B Dr Alexander. I dropped into his office today to give him a dozen of my chicken eggs. I wish I could give Dr Kanakas some! I love that guy !! He made my dreams come true. I hope he does the same for you. !!

For all those going to Embryoland, you have made a great choice ! I hope that I have a healthy baby this year, a natural birth, so I can fly to Greece next year this time for my two frosties. Mum has planned it already, she will be looking after my baby, while we fly overseas. I hope this dream comes true. But i'll just take one step at a time and hope for this little bubba wubba to grow and show itself to me in mid December this year. Fingers crossed for us all !!!

Love from the crazy pregnant woman down under.

P.S I bought myself a dishwasher for my birthday, it will be the first time I've used one since 1983 living with mum, I've saved all my dishes from my party last thursday and am going to have it installed this friday, lets see how good it can work !! My kitchen is a mess, but I cant wait to stack that sucker. I got one with a TURBO fan..haha
