    Default 2nd maternity leave

    Hi all,

    Just wondering if anyone can give me insight if I would be entitled to paid parental leave from centre link for my 2nd child?

    I went on maternity leave on the 11th July 2014 for my 1st had been with my employer for 13 months. Returned to work 20th April 2015 19 hours a week and will most probably go on leave again at the end of Jan 2016.

    Will I be entitled to paid parental leave from centre link? Also do I count my maternity leave period into my length of service with my employer?

    It only counts towards the PPL work test if you were on paid leave.

    I only had 18 weeks paid parental leave in that break

    Apr-Jan is only 9 months...

    I believe you have to have worked for 10 months prior to the birth of your child AND 330+hours in that 10 months.

    Unless you can count your previous PPL period as part of it?

    It's has to be 10 months and over. I was 5 days off (went back to work 3 days a week) and didn't get it.

    Geez I think this will be the same for me. Damn I'm due the 16/2 so unless I work right up until I go I may get it. I do believe I could get my doctor to write a letter saying there was a reason why I couldn't complete the 10 month period but still I think I'm pushing my luck.

    What about my entitlements with my employer - do they have to hold my job open?

    When did PPL/employer paid maternity leave conclude? The way I read it is that you'd need to have worked, or had PPL for at least 10 months of the prior 13 months with no less that 8 weeks in between each. So, April-Jan is 9 months, you'd need to have been paid in Feb or March to make the extra month, if that makes sense..

    No my ppl ended in December 2014 oh well it's not meant to be.

    That's still within 13 months so while there would be a longer than allowable gap between your two paid 'working days' I would still apply. It doesn't hurt. It seems silly to miss out by such a short period of time

    Yes agreed i mean I can try and work right up till my due date and I think I will meet the work test cause I started back on the 20/4 and am due 16/2 so if I can hang out till then I may get it. If not I might ask my doctor to cover me for 2 weeks
