Being a parent has changed me in ways that I never could have anticipated, and wouldn't have understood if someone tried to explain it to me before my babies came into my life. Changed me deep down at the core of my being, challenging my beliefs and sense of who I am... Let's not talk about this.
Let's talk about the things that I decided about the type of parent I was going to be - before I had babies - that make me laugh now. How they make me smile because of how native I was! Things like "I'll never co-sleep, that's just dangerous." In the middle of the sleep deprived craziness of those first few weeks of motherhood I threw that one out the window! Or "I'll have my kids able to swim by the time they can walk, that's the safe way to be around places with swimming pools. " And now my DS1 is 4 and a half now and still can't swim!
What things have you said about parenting before you had kids that you haven't followed through with, and or are just plain silly in hindsight?
