Interesting thread, I'm always wondering what I can do next. I've done the hard yards to get a couple of my life long 'dream' jobs.

Just a question for any of you. Midwife was listed by many people as a dream job. Wondering why people would not aim for Obstetrician? Seeing as the criteria was 'dream job' rather than 'realistically achieveable job'? I'm genuinely interested in why people think being a midwife would be better than being an Obstetrician. Apart from the obvious fact that Obs get sued more.

Good point, it took me a while to think of why I didn't say Ob. I think it is because I don't want to do all the years of study involved in being any kind of doctor, because as far as I'm aware, a midwife is a 4-ish year degree as opposed to 8-10+ years of study to become a doctor.

Because obstetricians only get to be there for ****ty births and don't get to be there as support during labour and afterwards on the ward.
