Default What rituals do you have in your house?

When I was over in Melbourne, my friends asked me about the song I sing to DS every nap and bed time. I don't even think about it because it's just something I do as a matter of course. So what little rituals do you have in your house?

When DS was about three months old, I saw this song on Yo Gabba Gabba and now I sing it to DS every time I'm putting him to sleep. I use his name instead of "baby".

We have this thing where a billionty kisses must be blown and caught when we say goodnight - even my big ones (7 and 9) must have their kisses over the phone every night when I'm not there.

My little one and I always have the following exchange before he goes to sleep.

    Me: "Guess what?"
    Him:"What?"
    Me: "I love you."
    Him: "Guess what?"
    Me: "What?"
    Him: "I love you more."

I sing 'this is the way we brush our teeth' every time I need to brush. Not sure if I would call it a ritual though. It's just the only way he'll open his mouth for me recently😉

We always have the same bed time routine - books (the number varies depending on how late I'm running), into sleeping bag, say night night to Sam the sheep clock, lights out, a bottle of water and then into bed.

I've been trying to create our own family traditions for special occasions though. Its just me, DP and DS in the state so we don't have any family around to have those traditions with. Little things like having pancakes on Christmas morning.

I MUST get a kiss and hug before my son goes to sleep...not just any kiss though. I get a 5 point kiss...my forehead , both cheeks, nose and chin then a long hug.

My husband put him to sleep..he gets a story which he reads himself lol.

On my way to my room i check up on him and give him another kiss.

At bedtime DS1 and I started doing "Butterfly kisses" which is actually, Kiss left cheek, kiss right cheek, kiss forehead, eskimo kiss, butterfly kiss on left and right cheek and then lips ( lips only if neither of us are sick).

Anytime someone gets headbutted we say "Noggin, dudeeee".

Birthdays - I decorate and we have pancakes for breakfast or lunch.

When I sing Rockabye baby I swing them and pretend to drop them when I get to the line "cradle will fall".
