It's from the Old Testament & then again in the New Testament one of Jesus' disciples was Levi then it changes to Matthew for some reason. I'm not religious but I love Hebrew names, don't know why.

My partner is Christian Egyptian. I guess if he went to Egypt & people recognised it as a Jewish/Hebrew name some people might go a bit funny? But... OH seems to think the only real problem is they would pronounce it wrong.

Like my cousin Levi, who was not named after the biblical figure, but the jeans! Yup

I still like the name though

I love Hebrew names as well ( obviously!) I know a few Levi's and they are all gorgeous - most people didn't realise elijah was biblical either so I don't think it will be a big problem

It's not really a name that I'm drawn too but I immediately think of it as biblical rather than bogan.

I know quite a few little Levi's so it is increasing in popularity if that is of any concern to you. Personally I'm not fussed on whether names are popular or not, I just went with names I loved.

It's not a name I'd use, but I neither love or loathe it.
It's a bit overused though and doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.
