Sorry l havent meant to slacken off on the thread, its just been such a huge whirlwind couple of weeks....lm struggling to keep up with anything!
I havent read back but will catch up over next couple of days.....hopefully its not too long till our next bub arrives.
So my little man hasnt come home from hospital yet but he is close, hopefully l can bring him home tomorrow!
He has been in Special Care Nursery at hospital since birth but he took a bad turn last Wednesday night, which was the same night l was discharged from hospital. So l arrive at the Nursery on Thursday morning to spend the day with him to be told that he had a bad night and was being transfered by baby ambulance to the Royal Childrens hospital NICU (newborn intensive care unit).
I was just terrified! Poor guy has been almost non stop vomiting since birth, its just awful to see it just runs out his nose or mouth like a tap, sometimes he is asleep when it happens and doesnt even wake. He was also having episodes of decreased breathing so needed to be moved for closer monitoring and further testing.
He, thankfully was cleared for bowel issues like obstructions or twists so no surgery required. They found an infection but it has been cleared up now with antibiotics. It was so difficult seeing him hooked up to a heap of machines covered in tubes and not being able to hold him for a couple of days.
He has severe gastric reflux but hopefully as he grows it will ease up, its now not as bad as it was, he still vomits but nothing like it was. They stopped feeding him for 24 hours so gave his little digestive system a break and then slowly re- introduced breast milk back into him via nasal feeding tube in tiny tiny amounts. He slowly built up to bigger amounts and bottle then back to breastfeeding. He is progressing so well that he was transfered from the RCH NICU back to the Special Care Nursery at the hospital he was born at yesterday.......and hopefully he is coming home tomorrow!
The Royal Childrens Hospital have been amazing, not just with Liam but for me aswell, l was able to stay in accomodation there for one night and then at Ronald McDonald house the rest of the nights. They provided all my meals as l was breastfeeding/expressing and have a midwife service aswell. My local hospy have been just fab aswell.
Last night was my real first night home, my DD hasnt coped too well so hoping we can now get into some sort of normality. And hopefully l can start to recover a bit from csection as lve just been on the go since the cathedar came out, no lazing around in bed on the ward for me....lol!
Sorry for rambling, lm sooooo lacking in sleep so tend to ramble! I really hope everyone else is going well.
