Hi all. I know I did the big farewell but I've had a bit of a setback health wise and find myself quite lonely and bored so I've been seeking out that bit of online company.

Three weeks ago DH, DS2 and I came to Perth for appointments that I need to start the process of getting into the deceased donor list. I ended up coming down with what we thought was really bad gastro and I ended up spending nearly a week in Perth, went to emergency etc...but it seemed to get better and so eventually we decided to just go home to the farm.

About two hours into the three hour drive the "indigestion pain" I was feeling began to ramp up but I just ignored it. Didn't work. I ended up being taken by ambulance to our local (understaffed and ill equipped) hospital in excruciating pain and after a nightmare of a time at the hospital was flown by the royal flying doctors to Perth with peritonitis.

I'd been in hospital 3 days on loads of antibiotics and morphine when the pain escalated yet again. I was begging for someone to just knock me out ( poor DH had to watch all of this) and I was taken for a CT scan. This showed what the actual problem had been all along. Some of my small bowel had become caught in a hernia and perforated and my PD dangler was caught up in the mess that was my insides.

I was rushed off for an emergency op and they fixed me up.

Unfortunately though, I lost my PD tube so now have a special line in my neck that I use to do haemodialysis. I can't be at home for this so I've been staying with my mum in Perth since I was discharged from hospital (4 days ago) and dialyse at a clinic Mon, Wed, Fri for four hours at a time.

It looks like I will have to stay in Perth on haemo for 2-3 months while DH and my three babies are home on the farm but hopefully given time to heal, I'll be able to have a new PD tube put in and go home and start again.

I'm trying to remain positive and I know my family can do this but I'm pretty bummed and sore and weak but I'll get there.

So anyway that's where I'm at and if you see me around you know why.

Holey heck! I'm glad your back but not under those circumstances. I have had peritonitis and septicemia before and it is excruciating! Hopefully things start to look up for you. Does this complicate things for a transplant?

Thanks lovely. It just means that it will be longer again before I get on the list because my body just isn't physically strong enough to accept a transplant right now. This whole thing feels like a massive lesson in patience.

    oh MissKitty

such a rude shock when you thought things were going to get better again.

If there is anything I (or any of the Perth girls) can do - let me know.

Maybe a meetup if you are feeling up to it?
