    Default UK passport help

Has anyone used form MN1 to obtain British citizenship for their kids?

I am trying to establish whether my boys are able to get it or not.... The form is so confusing and the wording is not clear (to me)

Basically my father was born in the UK so has a British passport, after I was born, my parents applied for my British passport and I got one.

Now my sons were born in Aus, but I am trying to find out if they can get a British passport too?

Anyone in the same situation that can help me out please?

The laws change all the time, I know that my boys aren't entitled to British citizenship unless I was an actual resident for 2 years there. I have the same, a UK passport because my dad was born there. You might have to stay up late and give them a ring

My kids aren't entitled despite the fact that both dh and I have British passports (through our parents), as they were both born here.

oh, and I have lived over there at 2 different stages of my life (totalling about 5 yrs), but that was before my kids were born.

Does that mean if I was a resident for 2 years, then they could be entitled to one? Does it have to be 2 years after your kids are born or before?

I don't think they will be entitled to one.

I have a European passport, as I was born in Ireland and lived there until a few years ago.
H has a European passport, as his parents were born in Malta and lived there.

Our kids will be entitled to a European passport, as both parents hold one, and one parent resided there for so long. DSS and DSD will not, as H got a passport based on his parents, and their mum is not a European.

Oh ok, I was there for almost 3 years... Wonder if my boys can apply then.

Anyone know what number to ring to speak to them? I tried to ring UK embassy here in Aus but it doesn't let you speak to anyone

I had a look around for a number and I can't find one either. I also did the little thing on the website that finds out if you are a British Citizen - and it says that I'm not. But I have had a British Passport before, so how can that be possible?

Could you ring Australian Passport Office and ask them? They may even have a number for the British Consulate /Embassy
