Hi, just noticed spots on my 16 month old's feet and mouth. He's had high temps and reluctant to eat or drink for 2 days now. Thought I'd jump on BH to see if anyone has any advice and found this thread!
Any tips appreciated - particularly on what foods to feed. How long before your LOs started to get better? so hard to see them sick...
Poor little man. HFM can vary in how severe it is and how long the symptoms last. When my youngest had it, he was over the worst of it by about 4 days but my middle child was knocked out for a week and his mouth was so ulcerated that he couldn't eat food and basically just had fluid (water, Gatorade etc...) through a straw because using a straw meant the fluid didn't touch the sores as much. He was a really robust 7 year old when he got it though but sometimes younger kids may need to be hospitalised if they can't take fluids. So just try and ensure that he's drinking, don't worry too much about food but if he's having fewer wet nappies and just generally doesn't seem hydrated, I'd ring a health line or the local hospital.
