Don't love it, but certainly don't hate it either.

I think it's MEGA rude that people have made such comments to you in real life.

I love it...can I steal it? Love gaelic names. DS's name is Welsh gaelic and all the names on our list (if we ever get to have a second) are gaelic.

I can't believe your family have been so rude about it. I don't think it's bogan at all. Bogan is like the names in the other thread where they take a perfectly fine name and over spell the crap out of it!!

Yes we were aware of him after our ds was born, he is who I referred to in my op.

I would also like to thank everyone for their honesty. You have all put my mind at ease. I would hate for our ds to be affected in his future by a name that we gave him. We wanted a strong name that wasn't common but also wasn't out there and made sure we spelt the name correctly as well.

I love it Don't see how it's bogan at all.
I only find names to be 'bogan' where they're highly altered, made up or the family has no connection to the culture/language which they're from. Even so though, it's none of my business what someone else names their kid.

Our daughter's name is Shae (we both have Irish backgrounds - not that either of us associate strongly with that) and we both adore the name. I asked for lots of opinions anonymously before she was born, and tended to get that people either loved it or thought it was bogan. Have only had positive comments since she was born though

I totally understand why it concerns you OP, our Dd's name is Sailor and we've had a few people comment. One person even said 'well she's not going to become prime minister with that name'. Really?? How many people become prime minister anyway! Some people are just mean.

It's not my personal choice, but I dont think it is an objectionable name at all. Definitely not 'bogan' and Certainly nothing to tease or criticize! Im sorry you have had people criticizing your name choice I wish people would keep their negative opinions to themselves.
