Default Has anyone been told they are having a boy and then had a girl?

    Hi

Just wondering if anyone has been told at their 20 week scan that they are having a boy, and then had a girl? My husband didn't want to find out, but I did, so I felt like the sonographer didn't spend much time looking in that area (I was watching to see if I could see anything) at the end when he had wiped off the gel he said he forgot to check something & then quickly went over my stomach & wrote it on a bit of paper. My acupuncturist said the other day that he is certain I am having a girl (they test by your pulse) I asked how certain he was & he said he doesn't ever know of being wrong. I don't plan on buying heaps of things before the baby arrives, but I would really love to know!

As a student midwife, i've never seen it happen but plenty of midwives i've worked with tell me that it does indeed happen! I do think its unusual though.
I find it odd that your sonographer would forget to even look at the genitalia. Regardless of whether you want to know or not, i believe it's one of the things they're meant to look at to check whether its normal. (Just like they check for limbs, organs, etc.) That's why It's always surprised me when women are told one thing but it comes out another. I often wonder if it's when the sonographer can't see properly!!

I've not heard of it happening at the 20 week scan but I do know a few girls who were told boy between 14 and 16 weeks and have had girls - but at 20 weeks they were clearly girls.

I would be inclined to believe the sonographer over the acupuncturist but if it was only a very quick glance I wouldn't be convinced and go crazy buying blue.

I would be believing the sonographer over the acupuncturist lol with my last bub she only took a few secs to look and tell me boy, which he was. don't mistake being experienced with complacent.

Yes they can be wrong. But given how little time he spent tells me he was sure. I'd be buying blue

IMO at 20w you cannot mistake a doodle for vag j! It stands out like anything.

The heart rate thing has been disproved by my boy. He has always been in 'girl' territory lol

You're seriously not going to believe an acupuncturist over a sonographer are you?

I agree with that though. I had the harmony test so knew the gender at 11 weeks but at my 20 week scan there was no mistaking the boys bits on the screen!
