    Handles up. I HATE it when knife blades are facing upwards.

    We have a cutlery rack now anyway, so everything is flat and lovely!!

    Our dishwasher the cutlery basket you have to put everything except knives handle down.

    I should point out (with my system ) all the kill-you-sharp knives we have are Global ones and you're not supposed to put them in the dishwasher, so they get hand washed in the sink. The knives we have in the cutlery basket facing up are all butter knives and blunt.

    Yeah I hand wash all the sharp knives too. They are not dishwasher safe!
