Default PC? (Sort of spin off something I read today)

How do you interpret the term PC?

Is it negative? Positive? Does it depend on context?

ETA I mean PC as in politically correct, not Mac or PC :-)

    Depends on the context.

I think it depends on context too.

In general, it makes me feel like the text has been censored or watered down so to speak, so it isn't necessarily a true reflection of the intent.

Depends on the context. Personally, I like to think of it as being accountable for what you say but it's a vague term that is so open to people's personal interpretation, spin, agenda. I hate that it's basically considered a derogatory term because I don't think there is anything negative about being accountable for what you say.

I think to be PC is a good thing... However when most people actually talk about the need to be PC (Eg I tell my staff to write a PC email to another area) it's with a hint of -but-I-wish-I-didnt-have-to thrown in.

It generally irks me, because it's usually regarding something over the top, or being oversensitive.
Sometimes I guess it can be good though.

Default PC? (Sort of spin off something I read today)

    Ok. Interesting range of responses.

I just notice lately these blanket references online to the 'PC set' which seems to be derogatory and also seems to imply to hold a certain set of beliefs is to be kind of a sheep that just conforms or something, instead of actually having put thought into how they feel about an issue.

It's been irritating me a bit lately, that's all, and I thought maybe the phrase had changed meaning when I wasn't looking or something :-)

I think PC is used in the same way as bleeding heart. I personally am proud that I am sensitive to the sensitivities of others but I know some use these terms as an insult or punchline.

Amen sister. I have no time for people that deride the "bleeding heart" or the PC brigade.
