    Hi @mummymaybe

Hope you don't mind me popping in here. I saw your post and felt like I had to respond.

I just wanted to say "Don't give up hope yet." I had exactly the same thing happen with my HPT's - I had several which gradually got darker, and then all of a sudden a much fainter one.

I hit the panic button, told hubby it was all over, and came on here to post pictures and seek solace.

    I'm now 4w6d!

As the lovely BIB said to me, lots of things can affect your test results. Tests DO vary from box to box, so if you've just opened a fresh box, that could be the difference.

Also, if you drank extra fluids yesterday, or if you got up and did a wee during the night, your urine could be more diluted today as opposed to yesterday.

BIB suggested to me to hold my pee for as long as I could, and re-test that same day. Limit your fluids a bit, hold on as long as you can, and test again.

Don't lose hope yet love. It might still be ok

    Krysta

Thanks @Krysta74 , that's reassuring. I just remembered that for yesterday's test I did it when I woke up at 4am and was busting but today I went overnight but tested at 630 when I woke up. Maybe that's the issue.

Default POAS - The Post Your Photo thread #3

Mummymaybe, I had a similar thing where my first couple of HPTs were light, then I had quite a dark one, then the next morning and for the following two mornings they were all light and not getting darker. I had a BT the day after my dark one and my hcg was only 28 (this was 1 1/2 days after my original positive). Since the dark one had been so dark and the next day much lighter with a fairly low hcg I told DP it was all over and we had a chemical pregnancy, announced on my forum threads that it was all over and didn't bother going for my second blood test on Friday. That Friday night I started to get pregnancy symptoms which I thought was weird so I tested again the next morning, it was darker! The next morning it was darker again. I went on the Monday to get a blood test and my hcg was 164 which was a perfect doubling rate of 47 hours. Now I have morning sickness, food aversions etc.
When I told the nurse how weird my HPTs had been she told me not to take any notice of the darkness as there were a number of factors that could affect the colour of the line. Anyway, I don't know if this pregnancy will work or not but it has certainly taught me not to take the darkness of an HPT as the definitive answer to whether or not my pregnancy is progressing.

Could well be - exactly the same as me. The test I did in the afternoon (after holding on for 8 freakin' hours!) was my best yet.
