I don't see it as double dipping I have worked for my company for more then 10yrs in various roles. Do I complain that others get long service leave and I don't cause some work went to casual then fulltime again, no I didn't . I waited till I was married and house was on the way to have my first and o worked long enough for works mat leave for my ppl. I am lucky in the sense I get it but it is only 10 weeks worth and more then others.

Oh my god. I can't survive financially if this gets through. Double dipping? What the actual ****?

My work gives me five weeks.
Govt ppl is min wage and with both of them I'm hoping and praying as the primary income earner that we can make it to six months.

If this got through I'm back at work five weeks after the birth. Tell me how that's good for the baby?????!!!

But on the bright side - there's NO way the Greens or Labour let this through.

I think it's terrible. And you know what? I'm a sahm who is done having kids and who will never ever be affected by this. I realise this is slightly off topic but I am disgusted at the lack of empathy and 'me me me' attitude that seems to come to light around this time every year. This isn't directed at anyone here, just at society in general.

This will have absolute no bearing on my family whatsoever but I still think it stinks for working mums who are trying to make ends meet while they spend those precious early months at home.

A gvt who was talking about increasing PPL to a 6 month full salary pay out is now talking about decreasing benefits to working parents?
    Gotta love the consistency!!!
This is what I was thinking. This is such a total backflip it boggles the mind!

    Default New Budget

Wasn't this always the policy when the new PPL was proposed? That everyone would get 6 months replacement wage and this would be instead of employer PPL?

So this way they get rid of the expensive PPL idea that people voted them in for and make people worse off....classic LNP strategy!

I think originally it was split wasn't it so you could choose between baby bonus or PPL. Not sure if baby bonus is still there but I think it's crap to cut ppl if you already have it from your employer. It won't get through the senate.
