    Default teeth grinding

my eldest is 5 and grinds his teeth all day every day, he doesnt grind them at night only when he is awake, Ive spoken to his dentist and she said so far so good he's not doing damage but the noise drives me insane,

Is there anything I can do to stop it? what causes teeth grinding when awake? ive googled and its always about when theyre sleeping,

I read worms so I wormed him appropriately but no result

DSS used to do this- we never figured out why.
He would do it when happy, sad, upset, etc.
He said he liked doing it. We would explain over and over that he would damage his teeth.
Eventually we got a sticker chart, everytime he grinded he would get a red sticker. If there was more than 5 a day (and there was for the first few weeks), no dessert, no treats, nothing (we explained that these damage teeth too so it was his choice). After a month of him doing 5, we did a month of 3 a day, then zero tolerance.
Within 6 months he stopped doing it.
He was 5.5 when we did this, and is 7 now.

Now he does it occasionally in his sleep if something has been bothering him for a few days.

DSS wasn't aware of it at first either. We would say "stop grinding" each time he did it, and eventually he noticed it but kept going. That's when we started charting.
