    Default Problem with Flatulence

My 4 month old still has trouble passing gas from the rear. I have tried everything to help him but nothing seems to relieve to build up. He pulls his legs up, arches his back, his tummy bloats if he gets a build up, strains till he's red in the face but his poo is normal and burps fine. He doesn't spit up. Docs tell me every time that it's normal infant behavior.
Below is a list of things I have tried to relieve his pain.

*Burping over shoulder and/or knee every 3 min during feeding and up to 40 min after feeds
*Patting his back with some force while walking around
*Rubbing/patting his back (over knee) and tummy in circular clockwise motion
*Cycling and crunching both legs, one leg at a time in circular motions
    *Bouncing
*Laying him down for mins then picking back up
    *Changed formula brand 3 times
    *Plain warm water
    *Infacol wind drops
    *Coloxyl for constipation
    *Gripe water
    *Infant panadol to relieve pain
*Indian spice remedy Asefotida warmed and put on his belly/abs

As I mentioned none of the above has worked to relieve him of his farts. If anyone has any advise, please help me.

Time... Sucks I know, I tried most of what you've listed with my dd ... Except asofotedia (I've only had that on a goat Curry)...infants friend is the only other thing oh and a warm bath .
/ tummy time if it was really bad. I also resorted to an osteo who specialised in infants/kids which seemed to help a little. Sometimes you just have to ride it out until they get better at pushing it out themselves

Have you tried baby probiotics? It helps mature the bacteria in the gut. My midwife suggested it as dd was terribly colicky and would scream for hours and had wind issues.

I'm not sure if it was that or a combination of things or dd1 simply grew out if it (like you I tried it all) but within a week or two of giving it to her daily - around 4 months- she no longer had wind issues.

sorry for crashing the thread. I have my own thread but I'll ask relevant question here. I am using NAN comfort which has probiotic in it. I am not sure his painful gas problem is the left over effect from S26 or a new problem with NAN comfort. With S26, he got constipated. It has been a week since we changed to NAN comfort and the painful gas problem started with the switch as well. I am using infant friend from time to time but i think i'll be more persistent on using it more often now and see if there is an improvement.
