Thanks tortoise. Yeah dp has already had all testing and we bought sperm a few years ago. The sperm bank we bought from only sold minimum 5 viles at a time so dp and I each bought 5 so we could guarantee to use the same donor (we are counted as 2 families in the eyes of the donor registry) it cost $6800 for all 10 and shipping then $400 a year to store it (we pay 1 lot of storage as our clinic stores it together as 1 family )

We think our dr will approve another iui because this last cycle made a connection just didn't stick so ivf wouldn't help that. But due to limited sperm, we would move to IVF for cycle #4 if it came to that.

Wow $30k seems heaps! But a great investment for the future

But I guess we are up to $20 something thousand... Blah having babies isn't cheap!

It's always good to have some back up sperm, a friend of ours just did a fresh ivf cycle with donor sperm and got no viable embys at all
    It's all so heartbreaking.

Ps. Sorry for being a downer today. I'm just sad

@rainbow road and @almai I figured I would reply to you here seeing as this thread will track where everyone's at. Probably easier to have the one thread now - I hope everyone agrees because I love the new list. My memory is shocking so it's nice to have a new and fresh little group that we can follow along with on here. I'll just re-direct the others here too haha.

Rainbow - I would probably do exactly what you are doing and counting the weeks of what could have been. That would be the hardest part.

Almai - we also want to use the same donor so that's why I want to be sure that we buy enough. I don't want to run out and not be able to get more. I'm also conscious of buying too much and having it go to waste if that makes sense. I think that's a harder decision then picking the actual donor!! Don't apologise for being down. I'm sure we all understand that what you are going through is not easy and you are allowed to be blah!

My memory is shocking too so the list is great
I wasn't sure if this thread was for chatting aswell as the list... So from now I'll mosey on over here

As for sperm... As you are going straight into ivf, I'd go 3 to be safe but 2 minimum...

Default Same Sex Parents TTC List

@Amy and Stacey we have decided to chat here too so that the list and chat is altogether. Easier to keep track of where everyone's at and that way it is all current. Feels more cozy if it's all one thread too ☺️
@almai - have you and DP got plans for today? Anything to make it a bit "easier" that's not the right word but you know what I mean. Yeah three seems like a safe number. How many have you got left?

Did she have the bloods done this morning? Not sure if the clinic still requests tests.

I really hope that times goes super fast for all of us and that the BFP's roll in and lead to take home bubs for all 😀

It may be easier to get the 'new' old thread locked to make it a bit easier to navigate to this?
@almai take care of yourself today. How old is DS? Maybe you two can do something fun together

As for IVF costing..I believe it will cost us at least 10k through MIVF. Hooley Dooley. I'm hoping we will get some back through medicare. I hope so!!
Trying not to stress over the cost as yet, though and hoping if we are really lucky we won't need it

The IUI journey has been expensive enough! I do sometimes wish that we did the all at home DIY kind of thing, but I think for us, we ultimately prefer to go via the anon donor/clinic route and you just need to suck it up cost wise.
