Sorry that this IUI didn't work out as planned ladies but great to see that you are prepped with new plans! Sounds like things will move along nicely very soon!

I'm trying to stay motivated to continue losing weight so that we can hurry up and start our journey but then I keep forgetting that me losing weight faster won't make the time goes faster too lol. Soooo.. We sit and we wait. Sometimes I can't really remember what we are waiting for. Oh yes. The 'right' time lol.

Hey Almai. No BT for me. I'll only get a BT to confirm BFP not BFN. I hate needles so the fewer the better.

Hey @A&S - Any more pee tests? Are they still saying negative?
@Hayls81 - How did your appt go? I hope you and your family are going ok, as well as you can be at least at this time.

Reading all your stories about clinics and costs makes me realise just how lucky we were to have the opportunity to do DIY. May I ask if any of you ladies considered it? Is it just too hard to find a donor? We found our donor through PrideAngel.com. Our situation was a bit different though as we were overseas - It'd be different finding a donor in Perth, I don't know how I'd feel having the donor living in Perth with us. We probably would have gone over east if it hadn't of worked overseas.

We have not even considered doing DIY insem. We want our babies to have the same donor. With DIY there would be no way to guarantee that donor is available in the future when we want bub 2.
I also do not like the idea that DIY insem doesn't hold up in court. If done through a clinic, it's completely impossible for the donor to try and claim any visitation with the baby.
I would honestly pay all of this money to guarantee we would not have troubles in the future

No more pee tests for me. I don't want to torture myself.
We never really considered DIY. I'm way too nervous about the legal side of things to use anyone except an annon donor. I know there are always contracts but the clinic route was best for us. I hate how much money we are forking out though, you're very lucky

@SRC it's something that I have never considered because of the legal issues. Unfortunately I don't have enough trust in strangers that they wouldn't want to claim rights to the child once it's here which they could definitely do. It would make me worry so much which is why I've just pushed it out of my mind and not stopped to consider it. Maybe it's the stories I've heard?! I know it doesn't mean it will always turn out like that but I would pay to make sure there is no chance of it turning out like that.

Out of curiosity how does it work for the partner when it's home insem? Are they also automatically recognised as the other parent or do they need to get parental orders from the courts? Like I said I've never looked into any of this but it would be interesting to see if and how it affects that side of things.

We considered DIY and had a donor chosen, but ultimately opted for a clinic because we didn't want any grey areas down the track.

It's been costly and frustrating but I wouldn't change anything if I had my time again.

We're the same. The piece of mind from a legal standpoint kind of won it for us.

We did seriously consider the DIY method but in the end the option of clinic donor was what we decided was best for us.
