See part of the reason I believed it to be more than just flirting was that he went out of his way to help with this charity stuff, speaking to reporters etc. Plus seemed genuinely interested in my personal life. More than just a casual interest.

Anyways I now don't know where to from here. Do I continue to act like nothing has happened and still work with him on this charity? Also he didn't say anything about who or when or if he was going to refer me on to. Or if I should go back to my gp for a different referral, as I need to have surgery which he booked me into last week.

I'm glad I sent the message as it needed to be done, but there isn't any closure on the other stuff.

I'd definitely keep doing all the charity stuff with him. I don't think you read into it and I'm sure there is more to this. He can't write more in a text. Agree with whoever said there will be more chapters.

As for referral, yes I would ask GP.

Hun that's because instead of letting it go you are trying to look for an opening at every turn to ignite things.

You've put the fishing line out, now sit back and wait for the fish to bite.

If he's any type of a gentleman/doctor with ethics you won't hear from him again. At least not for a year or so. Don't push him or force the issue. If you run into him with your charity work then so be it. Don't go chasing him though. See your GP for another referral. If needed contact his reception staff to cancel the already booked operation - there is no need to contact him directly. Wait for the fishy.

I would ring his receptionist and say you've spoken to him about a new referal and ask her to post it out

Yup, @VicPark is on the money and you've known this for a long time. If he's even a halfway decent doctor then he can't have anything to do with you for well over a year after treating you. You need to sit back, be patient and wait. If he's interested, he'll seek you out when the time is right but also don't put your life on hold for him, either. Just move on from this and see what else is out there for you.
