We used Vineyard Car Hire and they were great. Loved the flexibility of having a car.

we used Avis as they were just around the corner! We booked last minute whenever we wanted a car (mostly the night before) and they always had a car and GPS available - it was really easy!

I've just realised we have no chance of doing everything we(I) wanted to do! Only two afternoons and two full days free from now and wanted to do robben Island, stellanbosch, franschoek, the high tea and the Cape of good hope. Looks like robben Island will have to go and will try to squeeze the two wine towns into one day. I thought we'd have plenty of time here to see everything

Leyshoja - great to hear so many are doing well ! Enjoy the remainder of your trip.

I am late to the conversation re what you can fit into the remaining days but the 2 wine areas can be done in 1 day or even half a day if you pick only 1-2 in each area to stop at - depends on whether you are going for the alcohol or scenery. Robben Island is the best part of 2/3rds of a day and you have to book in advance so that may be the one to drop (or rather, keep in case there is another visit in the furture, say with a child in tow )

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #9

Robben island is off the list. We did the Cape today and it took us all day. We went down every road though and did the walks. I'm pooped. We will do the high tea at Mt Nelson tomorrow after embie transfer. Wineries the next day. On Friday we were booked into the test kitchen for lunch but I'm thinking of cancelling as that consumes a whole day because it's in the middle of the day. We could do Robben Is on that day, or hit the shops or something, rather than eat yet again.
FYI the dinner we had last night in the Vineyard hotel restaurant called the Square is the best meal I've had in many years. The cheese soufflé nom nom.... What a shame we will have to eat there again many times sigh...

Leshoya, good luck with transfer tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

I have been having a few very bad days... on Monday went through a drawer at work, and found an ultrasound picture of the pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage last year. Within my work, I also work with a lot of women whose children end up getting removed, and straight after seeing this picture, walked out of my office and bumped into a women who is pregnant again and already had 2 kids removed.
I was a complete mess the rest of the day.
I have also been getting lots of donor profiles the last week, and reading through them just makes me so sad. Sad that I even have to do this, sad that my child will never look like me, and so many other thoughts.....how do I get over this bit, and accept the road we have to travel on?

I'm sorry for being negative on here, but just feel so lost, fustrated and alone, and other than my wonderful DH, nobody really understands.
