    I'm sure there is cheaper stuff around - the quality seemed good, I think it's the same as Marks and Spencer in the UK. I didn't find clothing all that much cheaper but I wasn't really looking for clothes. You could try Greenmarket Sq in the city, I found some clothes there on our first trip and a lovely leather handbag. There were lots of stalls http://www.capetown.travel/activitie...market_Square2 @Lisaxxx went to some outlet places while there I think - she might be able to comment on that experience.

    Hi Emski,
    I did go to an outlet shopping complex, I can't think what it was called now. I brought some clothes for the gym that were cheaper but overall we didn't find it that good.

    We found Pack'N'Save I think it's called cheap for clothing. All their supermarkets have a clothing section and there is also a standalone store in Claremont in a shopping centre on the main rd (the same road CFC is on).

    Em - the Pot Luck Club has set dining times ( even for lunch ). I would be inclined to say no but I think you might just get away with it on a week day but definitely not a weekend.

    Maybe contact them And ask how they feel about it?? We went on a Saturday and it was filled with the 'hip' crowd and those there for special occasions (wedding anniversaries, proposals etc).

    I think however a weekday would be a more relaxed crowd if that makes sense.
    I can't recommend the food more highly so if there was even the slightest chance of being able to go I would take it!
    I booked three months in advance to get our table.

    R5 = 55cent Aus. Divide Rand by 10 and add a bit ! Worked for me ......

    I found woolworths clothes about 40% cheaper than Aus but not Country Rd or Whitchery which are owned by SA Woolworths who also now own Aus David Jones.

    I found a discount outlet centre/shops on the opposite side of the freeway to Century City. Drive to CC then when you head back to Cape Town it is the next exit you come too I think the suburb was Kenilworth. Google away & you will find it.

    I bought a fair bit at Century City. Our first 2 days had HORRIBLE weather so indoor malls it was!

    I thought Cavendish was cheap. Also ptice for quality very good. If you head East towards (almost at) Stellenbosch exit there are outlets there and a mall. I needed warmer clothes and the outdoor store was so much cheaper than anywhere else like that.

    I bought Italian purple Suede leather shoes (my fav colour) in Cavendish (my transfer day treat) and seriously they were cheap compared with something like that at home $140. The man at the shop actually questioned if I understood how much they were- lots in their currency bargain in mine. I just thought everything seemed cheap but I wasn't really shopping when I was there.

    The shops to look out for if you are looking for more reasonable priced clothes would be: Foschini, Edgars, Truworths, and then really cheap Mr Price, Jet stores.

    Cavendish Square more upmarket, oher malls to look out for:
    Canal Walk, Somerset Mall, Tyger Valley.
