Thank you all for the welcome, and Blinky for sharing your story.

It is very reassuring to know this option is possible.

Would any of you ladies that have recently been down the DE route, be able to give me a rough estimate of the total cost of the whole process (excluding flights and accomodation)?

About 9-10k, clinic costs are close to 7k now, agency fees between $1500 and 3k depending on which one you go with, meds are about $300 before leaving (for me anyway) then you have testing before you go and an ultrasound etc.

I reckon I was 8k for all the medical stuff and de agency fee and then the same again for travel and accommodation ( that was for two of us and we made a real holiday of it - safari at sanbona, shark diving and pretty nice restaurants, couple of days at stellenbosh)

All up the same as cycle at genea without PMI but with better odds - currently 6wks+6 twins

    Hi Zara,
I went in June and I actually kept a spreadsheet of every expense as I wanted to see how much we exactly spent. We spent in total $23,570.00 which of course includes accommodation, flights for one way (we used frequent flyer points for our flights home), travel insurance, safari, airport transfers etc and other spending money. We probably did go a bit overboard and could have done things more cheaper. I'll give you a breakdown of our other expenses:

Egg donor agency fee for us was $1760.57
International Pharmacy for medications $990.02. You don't have to get them through the pharmacy but I wanted the once off injection.
    CFC deposit $4,467.20
CFC remaining amount to be paid $2,842.33
CFC extra $969.80. This included sperm and egg freezing and extra medications to bring home
    CFC embryoscope $445.44

Haha yes we are here. It's 4am and I'm up. What a looooong trip, then we had trouble with our car hire, got stressed when we couldn't find our hotel and had to kill 2 hours waiting for checkin. Boy were we stuffed. We didn't even go out for dinner on our first day in CT. Woke up and it was midnight and I hadn't taken my meds :0
. The time difference makes it tricky to dose on time, and work out when to do it. Scan in 8 hours time but I've never had trouble with my lining so not worried.
Welcome @Zara01 and yep you're doing the right thing thinking about DE. It's so easy to organise CT and CFC that I can't recommend it strongly enough.
Congrats on a good scan @Lisaxxx, I'd be rescanning too ! I'll be getting them every two weeks next time I'm UTD I reckon, lol

Glad to hear you made it ok Leyshoja. I just took my meds every 12 hours (synarel) and lunch time over there for prednisolone and antibiotic.
It takes a day or two to get over that flight especially with the added anticipation of the cycle too.
Good luck for your scan x

Tell me @emski72, what's the story with tipping over here? I hate to offer a tip if it's insulting ie the guy who showed us to our room for example? It's now 6am and we are starving - what time can we get coffee and food? Soooooo hungry

Hi everyone. Had my scan and we have 2 lovely bubs with heartbeats of 118 and 122. Both are measuring to my exact date today of 6 wks and 5 days. Fingers crossed things keep progressing. Feel very blessed right now with both taking as we have none in the freezer. Will have another scan in 2 weeks. So relieved!! Just annoyed we didn't do DE earlier but everyone has their path to travel. Mine just took 10 years!
