Default The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of MIRENA

I'm sure this would of been discussed many times here.
I had my mirenas for a total of 8 years.
It was the best contraceptive for us.
I didn't get AF for the whole 8 years, maybe occasionally a small amount of spotting.
I did put on some weight but nothing that going to the gym hasn't been able to help.
We are now TTC again and I would love to hear your experiences.
    What were your cycles like?
How long it took to conceive?
After conceiving and delivering, did you/ would you get it again?

My first cycle post mirena was 40 days.
    I'm now in my 2nd and CD4.
I really didn't miss AF... It's been awful.
I've used 2 packets of pads already, thrown out 4/5 pairs of undies and possibly had in the vicinity of 20 showers in 4 days.
I told DH he had better knock me up this cycle or I'll bleed to death the next one!

It was 40 very long days LOL

I would get it again but obviously there is no guarantee it will be the same.

I would give it a good three cycles before falling preg. I fell first cycle and miscarried that baby. There's some anecdotal evidence that your uterine lining isn't thick enough after Mirena and needs some time to get back on track.

I had the mirena for over ten years (yes the same one) had it removed when hubby and I wanted to try for a baby, fell pregnant within one cycle and now have a five month old son. I'm breastfeeding on demand and haven't had my period return yet, am booked in to get another mirena next month. I didn't get my period with the mirena and really didn't miss it!!

    Ten years hey...
I was too worried about leaving it in too long and falling pg.
Now it's out, I want to be pg!

I knew I wasn't supposed to leave it for so long but while it still was working (no period for me) I didn't bother getting changed. Both the GP and OB/GYN mentioned I might have issues conceiving since the mirena isn't advised to used for that length of time so we started TCC straight away, we had previously planned to wait three to six month before TCC so I could work out my cycles etc. not complaining of course just hoping my new one works just as well for me once I get it put in next month.
