Default Fund raising through go fund me - advice

    Anyone used go fund me?

I was thinking of raising funds for my friends who recently lost their baby daughter in a tragic accident and have heard of go fund me, but wanted to hear people's experience with it.

    Thanks

I believe they take a cut. You might be better just giving out bank details and asking for donations that way?

Was just coming to say the same as Wise Enough. I'm pretty sure they take a percentage of what you raise. Might be better setting up a bank account.

Yes, I've heard the same- that they take a good percentage of your fees. Although I guess it depends on who is likely to donate. Close friends and family a bank account should be fine, but I think strangers might be more likely to donate via gofundme.

Thanks girls, I read it's 5% so I didn't think that was too bad.

I am not sure who will donate, they have lots of friends and family but I only know some of their immediate family, they live in S. Africa so I've lost touch, so wouldn't feel comfortable asking them for their account details and then passing them around to people.

Any other experiences or tips? 😃
