My advice depending on how long you have been trying and how quickly you want to be pregnant is do the injections. I thought it would be alot scarier but it really was easy and actually produced follicles for me. I am 5day in on my tww.
I went to 100mg and clomid didn't do anything so I now know fsh is needed for me. I have been trying for over a year so we just bit the bullet and went through with it.
But overall i cruised through. Some mild nausea at the start of the injections but that past.
What ever you choose goodluck! Keep us updated.
Wow thanks that's so good to know! I'm in all kinds of confusion now as I got my period day 40 after 50mg of clomid (they cancelled the cycle as they didn't think it was working, so I didn't have any tests done after day 20)
I don't know what this means??

I'm also a bit nervous about the injections due to the cost!! It's about $800 a cycle??
Do you know what sort of odds you have doing the injections? Are you likely to fall within a cycle or two?? We have been trying well over a year so I'm really desperate.
My other challenge is I've just move states so I have to wait to the 30th May to See my new specialist and I really don't want to waste a period so tempted to try 100mg but I won't get tracked that's all (I have the script). Hope that makes sense.

So more then likely you did ovulate very late on that cycle, however what I have learnt is the follicle may not have been mature or able to be fertilized..
has hubby been checked? The chances of getting pregnant with a cycle with FSH is about 20% which I think it higher then clomid alone.
Also cost was actually minimal If you are doing IUI then I think it is a lot more. However we did a modified cycle with out IUI so much less (this is done if hubbys SA is good) but break down on mine would be as follows:
    FSH pen= $30
    HCG shot =$30
two trips to specialist =$95 each with 66 back on medicare so 29 out of pocket.
    progestrone pessarias after =$55
So I think out of pocket we were about $170-$200 all up. Nothing really in the grand scheme of it..
My advise is go for it I think it will be your quickest way to pregnancy and I am kicking my self for not attempting it 6 months ago.

Wow that's so much cheaper than the quote I was given. I was with repromed and they want $700 for a tracked cycle of injection and that doesn't include the cost of the injections.. You have to get them yourself on top of that! I'm now changing to fertility SA and they are the same!
Wonder why it's so much cheaper for you?
Husband has been checked and all is really Good there so it's jut me that's the problem!
Thanks for all the advice! If I were with a specialist that was only going to be $200 out of pocket for injections I'd do it in a heartbeat!
I think I'd also need something to build my liking as is thin and periods are very short and light!

I'm in South Australia. A while out of Adelaide.
I started taking 100mg. Spoke to a doctor friend who said just to go get a progesterone blood test day 21. And to make sure I'm aware of the risks of multiple birthd.
At least that way ill have a period when I finally see the new specialists on 30th may.
My next problem is trying to build my lining this cycle.
Are you able to test yet after you fsh cycle??

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with PCOs in December last year. Which explained the weird cycles, tiredness and general yuck feeling so it was somehow a relief to have an 'outcome' or answer. I have been trying Clomiphene and the specialist has now advised that we need to step it up to FSH injections. Anyone any feedback or advise on these injections? They sound harmless enough?? Thanks :-)

    Hi mrs sabo
Can i ask why the specialist suggested injections?
I've just done my second round of clomid which was bumped up to 100mg and progesterone blood test shows it worked.
I'm seeing a new specialist on Monday now I've moved States and I'm wondering what would be the benefit of the injections if clomid works?
I have been told they are slightly more effective but also more costly and you have to inject yourself each night I guess?

The specialist did a scan of my ovaries and concluded that the Clomiphene wasn't effective. My cycles are still all over the place. We are doing the FSH injections for 3 cycles - so for me thats about 5 months - and then moving to IVF. Its a process but hoping it will all pay off

I have my fingers crossed for you! Good luck!
I had confirmation through a blood test that clomid worked but no scan. Period just came dam.
So hard to know whether to do clomid or Injections.
I wonder what success rates are for both?
