    Default PCOS and Clomid

    Hi all

I have PCOS and today was prescribed Clomid by gyno to stimulate ovulation. Im excited and nervous to start it.
Can anyone shed some light on side effects, and success rates TTC with PCOS and clomid? Still waiting for AF to arrive (on day 53) so playing the waiting game until i can start.

    We are TTC #1!

    Thank you in advance

    xoxo

    Hi there,

I was on clomid for 5 months and for me the main side effects were hot flushes. I don't think I was particularly hormonal but remember the hot flushes were awful! Sadly it didn't result in a pregnancy for me but that may be because although the Dr always suspect I have pcos I don't fit all criteria so I don't think anovulation was my fertility problem. Good luck and hope it goes well. X

Hi, I am in the same boat, diagnosed two weeks ago and back to gyno today coincidentally, hopefully to get prescribed clomid (that was his plan last time pending my blood results). We are also ttc #1.

Sending baby dust your way, good luck!

Same for me - hot flushes were the main side effect. I have PCOS and only tried 2 cycles of clomid as it did nothing for me (did not result in ovulation). Are you doing this as part of monitored ovulation induction? I had cycle tracking with fertility specialist while taking clomid and I strongly suggest this otherwise it's a bit like shooting an arrow in the dark. Good luck with it all.

Thanks for the replies ladies i appreciate it.

Possie7 did you get your prescription?

Gingermillie - my gyno has prescribed me 50mg. He said he will check my bloods on day 21 of each cycle to see if i have ovulated. If i don't, he said he will increase the dosage until i ovulate.

Im hoping everything works out ok as we are both dying for a bubba

Good to know the most common side effect is hot flushes.

I have read that taking it in the evening is better sometimes as you sleep through the side effects… what are your thoughts on this?

Good luck and baby dust to all

    xo

My only concern with pcos and clomid is you might respond really well. No monitoring apart from checking for ovulation means you could unknowingly ovulate multiple eggs = risk of multiple pregnancy. Don't want to freak you out but hopefully they have discussed this with you! My fertility specialist would not prescribe clomid without cycle tracking (blood tests and scans from about 5 days of clomid) to monitor the number of follicles developing.

Yeah I had a scan during my first cycle to check I wasn't producing too many eggs.

@Anasi I have been put on hold for fertility help with my gyno as my blood test came back yesterday and I have also been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I need to get that sorted now before he'll help me with fertility medication. Tricky for me because there not much I can do but wait for the endo dr as I am healthy, eat well and and not overweight! Oh well my journey just got longer again...
I look forward to hearing how you go @Anasi, good luck :-)
