    Default How many sleeps at 6 months old?

    Dd is 6 months old and has been a good sleeper until now. She's generally pretty easy to get to sleep and usually sleeps through the night.
    Her current sleeps are:
    Wake at 6
    Sleep at 7:30 until 8:30 or 9
    Sleep at 11 until 12:30/1
    Sleep at 2:30/3 until 4ish
    Sleep at 6ish until 7ish
    Bed at 8/8:30.

    I tried to stretch her out this afternoon so that she could have a sleep at 4-6 then bed at 8 but couldn't last.
    I've also tried putting her to bed earlier but she always wakes up and goes down for her bedtime sleep at about 8pm.

    Is this too many sleeps for her age?
    Which one should I be cutting out and when?

    She's gaining weight, eating solids well and sleeping well generally but is getting fussy with her bottles.

    Tia.

    Default How many sleeps at 6 months old?

    Sounds like lot of sleeps for that age. At 6 months many bubs are weaning from 3 day naps to 2.

    At that age my bub was doing:
    7am wake
    9:20-11 sleep
    1:20-3 sleep
    7pm bed

    I would be pushing bub towards a 2-2.5 hour gap between sleeps. Cut the latest sleep and put bub to bed earlier. If bub is waking at 6am an 8:30pm bed is rather late.

    Good luck

    Mine were also on 2 sleeps by 6-7mths. More 7 than 6 tho.

    Dd1
    Wake 5.30/6am
    Nap 9-11
    Nap 2-4
    Bedtime 6.30

    Dd2 I shortened her morning nap as I wanted both girls (and myself) to nap after lunch.

    Wake 5.30-6am.
    Nap 8-9/9.30am.
    Nap 12-3pm
    Bedtime 6/6.30pm.

    Ds is just 6mths, just starting out on solids & his days are generally as follows

    * Wake 6am
    * Sleep approx 8-9:30am (most days I need to wake him at 9:30 to get to dd's activities)
    * Sleep 11.30am-1pm ish
    * Sleep 3-4pm
    * bath 6pm then bed about 6:30

    He generally sleeps straight through, sometimes will wake for a feed around 4am.

    I would have suggested just trying to put her down for the night at 6pm but then read you tried this and she still treated it like a nap. Could you try just stretching each awake time by 15mins to start with, try a gentle transition? I understand the not lasting, ds struggles come the 2hr mark but when I pushed out his awake time from 1.5hrs to 2, I did it gradually and it worked for us that way

    My little miss is 5.5m. She has 3 15 min naps during the day, yes really.
    But then sleeps 8.30-6.30. After my son I can't complain!

    My 7 month old DS has 2 45 min naps a day.
    He goes to bed around 730pm but still wakes anywhere from 1030pm to 1am and can't be settled. He will drink a bottle turn.
    Sometimes he will sleep from that bottle until 730am but sometimes he'll wake at around 4am looking for another bottle.

    Mine was the same. We're now 9 months and he's firmly on this type of schedule. At 6 months, he was transitioning from 3 naps. I started keeping him awake slightly longer, when his naps were getting too short. At 6 months, they should be able to stay awake 2.5 hours to 3 hours at a time.

    Thanks everyone. I think I'll try and cut out the late sleep and see how we go. I have tried it before but I will try again now that she is a few weeks older.
    It's weird - with my first dd I struggled so much to get her to sleep and this one is the opposite. She loves to sleep. I think I also encourage it as I am tired and busy with my first dd.
    Really appreciate all the ideas
