I would refuse. Too hard, too hard with a little one.
If it's so reasonable she can come up to you or at least meet you half way.

yes it is unreasonable, and no way would I even consider it. also, I don't know if anyone else has thought of this, but since she is coming for a work related trip, the time of the business/ work could be changed at the last minute, and the couple of hours for 'free' time might end up being 15 mins. not worth the effort at all. marie.

Basically she's asking you to put her wants ahead of your babies comfort and safety. Your bubba doesn't have a voice. You are his voice. Picture what he would say if you asked him.

Marie I didn't even think about that! Also makes me think what happens if it gets cancelled last minute and I'm already on my way? Thank gosh for BH to help me see reason!

What @SuperGranny said is also what I thought- things change last minute, or she might make plans to see others for lunch/dinner.

So true, she has friends and some family close by and I'm also scared of getting ambushed by 'MIL & friends' so to speak-I don't want my kid passed around people I don't know but are 'friends of the family', it will make me extremely uncomfortable and stressed.

I would make your husband drive if he doesn't see the problem and then he can see his mum at same time problem solved!
