Oh Bongley, it's just so hard. What a courageous step to say 'no more'. I'm getting up the guts to do that. You're getting good interest with donors, I hope something materialises there.

Know what you mean Emerald about having no expectations. We can get beaten down after a while. There is a bit more pressure with cgh normals I found. You do have good chances with them though. I love greyhounds! I wanted one a few years ago but ended up with another rescue dog instead.

    Thanks Leisylou x

@Bongley Much love and your way Girl...I would understand if you felt torn about things. Heartbroken deciding to stop trying with your OE's but hopeful with the possibility of being able to use DE's in a relatively short time if everything works out.

@Emerald 26 Thanks Luv He seemed much better this morning when he got up for work, so hopefully he's on the mend now. for your upcoming FET Luv!!

Hello to all the other Lovelies..... I second @Leisylou and send lots of love and to whomever need/wants themxoxoxo

Thinking of you Bongley - that first decision is the hardest.
Sounds like you have a lovely local donor!
Utilise your clinics counselling if you need it - they should offer it to you post cycle. It might help you through the emotions that come up xx

    sending you a big hug
@tuxcat I've placed an ad/profile in eggdonoraustralia.com I've had a lady from Perth and a lady from NZ contact me now but I'm not sure how likely it is that either will go ahead because of costs and the logistics of it all (they have very young kids too) but it's really encouraging so far, especially considering I have a child, thought I'd be pretty low on the pecking order. My ad has been up for nearly 4 weeks now so I think that's pretty good.

I think the trick is to put up a nice positive sounding ad and photos and basically go on there every day and chat to people and get seen by the donors. You aren't allowed to approach the donors, they have to find you. There are a lot of people who post an ad and then don't hang around the forum so their ads sink to the bottom and don't get seen and people don't really get to know them.
@emski72 yes, I've just sent an email to my counselor for an appointment next week, I hope to go through the process of using a donor and get everything set up so we are ready to hit the ground running.

Good luck Bongley, that's exactly what I did when I was looking for an egg donor

I also posted on add on bub hub and Huggies website which I think attracted some success.

Bongley, Genea are setting up their own donor system this year, should be ready to go soon, so people won't have to go out and find their own donors. I don't know the details because I'm not going the donor route, but I'm sure Genea would talk to you about it.

We'll, I spoke to my partner about starting another cycle tomorrow and I said I couldn't really face it. So he said let's call it quits. Which took me aback at first but then I agreed. So I think that's it

On a more positive note another donor has contacted me tonight. So I will start a conversation with her tomorrow. She has just helped another couple get pregnant so she obviously knows the ivf ropes by now.
I'm excited but sad too. I'm sure you all understand.
good luck with this new phase

welcome Peet. did you speak to a fertility specialist (FS) about ivf options, or just your GP. you could ask your GP for a referral to an FS and then see them. they'll probably want to run more tests and speak to both you & your husband. then you'll know more about what options are available for you. there's no guarantees with ivf (as with natural conception) but it can increase the chances in some cases.

this is good to know. last time we spoke to our FS about it (as an intro to the DE idea) she mentioned they had connections with USA. is this the donor system you mention? or are they doing an Aus based one too/instead going forwards
