Hi All..... thought I'd better get our roll call up-to-date again. I will go back and try to amend things, but if your details need updating on it, just let me know, in case I miss something.

Leisylou.... good luck with your IUI tomorrow.

MrsMac123.... can't remember if I said congrats yet on your BFP? That's great news. How many did you end up tranferring, and on what day? I'm always interested to see if d3 or d5 seem to have more success.

Hello Ladies! I hope everyone is well.

I've hanging around this thread on/off for the last couple months. It's nice to have "friends' who understand our trials and tribulations and to have someone to bounce ideas and thoughts with.

Some of you may recall my last post where I underwent an ICSI back in Nov14. Only 2 eggs were retrieved but both made it to D5...which I was stoked about. I have never had 100% D5 hit before...must have been a sign, right? Both got transferred and unfortunately a BFN. Blah. I asked for advice from this community as I wasn't sure I should continue trying with my own or start the donor path. Given that both made it to D5, I wondered if the egg quality was still ok. But then the realistic side of me says "what are you thinking?!" So, thank you to everyone that responded and helped me make my decision.

We decided to try another round of ICSI. Didn't want to always wonder "what if". Anyways...just had egg collection today. Things looked optimistic leading up to it...as good as it can get from a "geriatric" On Monday, my u/s had 3 follies ~19 mm with another 2 ~12mm. My E2 was at 5000. Decision was to trigger Monday night with egg collection today. 4 eggs were retrieved and was hoping we'd get 3 to fert due to the "decent" size and E2 levels. But only 1/4 was mature enough for fert. Needless to say, I was gutted. I just don't get how with follies of ~19 mm and with E2 of 5000 resulted in immature eggs. Fair enough the 12 mm follies but the bigger ones? Any thoughts?

This is our last attempt with my own eggs so was hoping we'd have a decent attempt at it. Fingers x'd that our little fighter got what it takes to make it.

Such a fine line between hope and realism, huh?

On another note, my friend who going down the egg donor path has just had her 3'rd attempt with a BFN. Im absolutely devastated for her. Wish there was something I can do for her.

Tuxcat: Congrats on escaping. I don't know the entire history but I resigned earlier this year from a toxic work environment and we couldn't be happier. Miss the people I worked with but not the managers. The stress caused some many problems at home.

@mustremainpositive Hi, welcome back. Best of luck with your embryo, sorry you didn't get a better result at this stage I hope it makes it to day 5 like your other two did.
Thats hard about your friend, I hang about on the egg donation websites and it does seems to happen more than you think it would. Just goes to show DE are no guarantee.

@tuxcat congrats on ditching the stressful job! I was freelance for 5 years and the stress did my head in, affected my relationship too. Once I changed jobs everything got easier

@mgcBertie thanks for the update, great work

for those who were asking...what I did the last two IVF rounds that achieved our little bundle of joy.

Technically the successful round started 3 years ago and I did acupuncture and TCM for the first and last time .... out of that round I managed to get 1 fresh embie and two in the freezer. The fresh embie went on to be a BFP but sadly had Trisomy 13 so our girl was stillborn at 28 weeks.

Then last year we decided to give IVF our last chance and so I went to the gym for 3 months leading up to it and during the PGD stim cycle to keep my blood moving and active.

That PGD stim cycle was not great as far as making embies ... got to the end and only had 2 fresh embies and 2 frozens from 2.5 years ago ready for PGD testing.

Then one frozen collapsed, one fresh failed and only 2 embies were biopsied. Turns out the normal embie WAS the frozen one from when I did acupuncture etc and that made our gorgeous little girl.

I have always taken various vitamins, nothing special, CoQ10 etc. But I think it was PGD testing that got us over the line as at our age we can produce a lot of embies that look fine but we don't really know until they are biopsied and tested at a greater depth.

I know PGD is not the be all and end all as the fact is a perfect embie and a perfect place for it to attach does not always mean a BFP. There is sadly a mysterious element in this game that science cannot overcome or resolve.

I don't know...maybe part of me was calm and relaxed as I had resigned myself to both sides of the IVF story, getting a baby or having to face the closure and grief of not having a baby.

There is no great secret or answer. Some will sadly walk away with nothing, others will have a short sweet IVF journey and others will have a long hard journey that will result in a baby.

    x

Wow this thread moves quickly at times!
@tuxcat that is great news that you've resigned, what a relief to have it done now, and how wonderful that you get to design a new future without a stressful job :-)
@leyshoja I hope you get some answers soon, the delay in being able to book must be doing your head in! Fingers crossed it all comes together very soon.

I had my first IUI this morning, worked myself up into a huge state as per normal, but it wasn't too bad. I swear I had pain in my ovary on the left side where the big follicle is, so let's hope it's not all psychosomatic and that an eggy did burst out this morning, ready to meet DH's awesome swimmers. So I guess I'm officially in the TWW! Hoping like crazy this is the one for us!

Yay for your out today @Leisylou - I wonder what that term is? Do we use pupo? Hmmm, anyway I hope the next two weeks go by quickly and af doesn't show!
@tuxcat yay for resigning! There really is no better feeling when working in an environment like that!
@MGC Bertie thanks for the roll call. My estimated et is 25 July and I guess I'm almost in the cycling bit as I'm on the pill and start jabbing in 12 days! Yikes!

@Chiefsgirl Yep, I still class it as PUPO for IUI I don't know why, but I've never really liked that acronym tbh.

Anyhoo..not too much longer to go now Luv!!! These weeks are going to fly by and you'll be winging your way to the good, old US of A before you know it!!!
