Default Experiences with mirena (and other bc)

I'm looking into getting the mirena, I have a 4m old daughter and I'm looking at jumping back into dating. I'm not ready for more kids yet.. but I'm scared that something may go wrong with the mirena.

I'm on the pill but I'm getting my period like twice a month and it's really really really heavy. I tried the nuvaring but it gave me hives. The implanon can apparently have an effect on fertility, unsure about depo..

What can you tell me about your experiences with the mirena or other type of birth control?

Ive had the mirena for just over 2 years and i havent really had any issues at all with it. The implanon made me very moody. My period is maybe every 6 weeks and is generally very light.

I'm on my second mirena. I had the first one put in after my first baby was born and when it was removed I went on to have 3 more kids. I had my second on put in last year due to very heavy, painful periods. It's work a treat, no side effects and no periods. It's been really good for me, I was actually contemplating a hysterectomy - far mire invasive so its really good that it worked.

I had a mirena for a full 5 years and I loved every minute of it. No need to worry about birth control and my periods stopped completely after 18 months! when Im finished taking a break from birth control I will 100% be getting another one

My periods stopped both times after about 10 days of initial bleeding.

Love my mirena. I have had no side effects, and no periods from the very day it got put in.
It lasts 5 years, though much to my GP's dismay I've had mine 6 years. Not sure how effective it still is; I don't really have sex lol. But still no period!

Only issue is that when I went to get it removed a couple of weeks ago, the strings have gone up inside. I had an u/s which shows the mirena is still perfectly in place, but it's just the strings have moved. Which means I need to go to a speciality place to remove it, which I have to wait ages for an appointment for.

But I would still highly recommend it.
