Default Travel Insurance & Car Hire

Just a quickie question! We are travelling to Brisbane today and on to Melbourne tomorrow. We are hiring a car over night. We have travel insurance so do we need to get car insurance as well? The travel insurance covers the excess payable in the event of an accident. Surely that is all we would pay anyway. If so, we don't need to get car insurance through the rental company. I am totally confusing myself!!!

If your travel insurance only covers the excess, you will need something thst covers the rest of the damage if you have an accident ☺ I would get car insurance thru the rental co too, unless your own car insurance covers any car you drive, which is probably unlikely. Enjoy your trip!
