    Default Gel induction

    Hey girls
I'm due to be induced Wednesday at 41w by use of the gel. My cervix is ripe but still closed. Just wondering if anyone has gone through induction the same way for the same/similar reason? Do they keep me around the hospital or send me home? Etc.
    thank you x

    Default Gel induction

I went into the hospital on a Monday arvo to be induced. First lot of gel was put in at 6pm. DS was in my arms Tuesday morning at 2am (8 hours from start to finish)
    You will stay in hospital.

Yes they will keep you in hospital. I had my first dose of gel on Friday night and Bub wasn't born until Sunday night. He was my second baby too! Everyone is different.

    Good luck

I had low level gels to encourage labour. I was monitored for an hour after. Allowed to leave to go have dinner out at a restaurant. Came back for more monitoring for an hour and then had choice to stay in hospital or go home. By 6am next morning I was holding a bub.

That's good to know, I was a bit worried about maybe being sent home. I'm hoping he's just here by easter which from everyone's story sounds like he should be!

I had it done midday Wednesday was sent home with 2 temazepam and 2 panadeine forte for bedtime and went in 7 am next day for synto drip. I was told women rarely go into Labour just from gel alone. I was fine overnight just had a little cramping

    I've had the gel twice.
First time I had one lot at 7pm and stayed in overnight and then had another lot at 7am and bub was born at midday.
Second time I had it at 7am and bub was born at 1pm.

You definitely won't (or shouldn't) be sent home straight away. You should be monitored especially in regards to contractions and baby movements

For my third bub, I had my first round of gel at 10am and was sent home because nothing had started right away. Back at 5pm (if I remember correctly) for a second round of gel, kept overnight in the maternity ward. Nothing happened overnight but the other lady who was having the gel at the same time as I was had her bub at 2am. I had my bub on day 3 lol....
