Even worse that it's family. Especially making that comment. I would be ****ed off!

Actually it reminds me a bit of my mother, we went out for dinner with her once for mothers day and for some reason she assumed we were paying and proceeded to order the most expensive of everything on the menu.
So - what happened at bill time?

GF - I was about to ask if it was a male. Has he been socially awkward previous to this event? My FIL would be fighting me at the til to pay for the dinner, whereas my own family would be quite happy for me to pay for everything.

Very rude, if I get taken to dinner I usually only order a main and a drink.

    Talk about shameless!

Have a mental picture of him scoffing in to his double mains commenting 'you have no idea how much I can eat' while the rest of the dinner party is frozen like stone in shock lol

I would find it a little weird but more so if it was a friend. If it was family I would be more likely to laugh it off. Esp since we occasionally have dinner at inlaws and my parents' place too. So I would have no problems paying for two mains for my dad or FIL.

If on the other hand the individual was always trying to take advantage of other people's generosity I would be annoyed.

Yeah that's weird That's so much food,I'm surprised they didn't pop. When I'm shouted to a meal I get a main and drink (plus dessert if the host is too), I'm also super grateful. That's worse than gluttony it's a waste of money and it's disrespecting the fact you have to earn it
