Default Would you find it weird if..

You invited someone out for your birthday (your shout) at a restaurant, and they ordered an entrée and 2 mains for their meal, plus dessert and coffee? I guess ive never really come across anyone ordering 2 main meals... in my case - if "I'' were to want 2 mains, I'd want to at least pay for one of the mains.. I'd feel weird someone forking out for 2 main meals. meals were about $25 each. thoughts?

ACTUALLY - just looked at menu online one was $25 and the other was $31.50 (not $25 as I originally thought).

Very weird. Obviously taking advantage of another's generosity.

I'm a little obsessed with traditional etiquette and I find what your friend did rude!
You followed the rules! (Although old school etiquette says you shouldn't host your own celebration but I think that's culturally our norm now!)
Your guest should follow your lead when it comes to ordering. Give or take.
E.g. If you order entree, main and dessert, your guest is cool to do the same.
Or if you say "I won't have an entree, but if you want one go ahead!" They're fine to have one.
But 2 main meals seems excessive and taking advantage of your hospitality.

Not just rude, but plain greedy! Who needs to eat an entrée, 2 mains AND dessert?!?

I could never take advantage of a friends generosity like that. Ever.

Oh and I have to say if it was my friends birthday, I wouldn't expect them to pay for my meal...I fact I would be offering to pay for theirs!

    Completely weird and unnecessary.

Maybe that person didn't eat for two days to make the best of a chance at free food?!

That's so weird... Why two mains? Did they actually eat both? As in all of the meal or just pick from both? I'm wondering how they could fit so much in. I think it's rude and shouldn't be done regardless of them offering to pay for that meal or not because chances are you would feel like you had to say no it was okay etc blah so why put you in that position?!

Also, we always celebrate friends birthdays with dinner out and the birthday girl/guy never pays for their meal let alone anyone else's!!!!
