Default Safety issues with a screen door

Hoping other parents can help me. We have a standard screen door on our sliding door in our lounge area. We need to toddler proof this door urgently. We are currently renting so upgrading to a security door is unfortunately not an option.

Please show me what you've done to combat the issue of your toddler falling through the screen without losing the functionality of the screen. We are desperate as we've been unable to leave the door open since our ds has been on the move (6 + months).

We were looking for something like this but there doesn't appear to be anything at all like it in Australia.

Is there room to put a standard safety gate in front of the door? That's the only thing I can think of.

Oh my topic has posted twice! Sorry didn't realise.

We tried the safety gate and unfortunately there isn't enough wall / frame to hold it in place without affecting the doors.
