It's sweet that she is throwing it for you! A few ideas depending on what she has planned:

    - if it is at her house and numbers are limited by space offer to have it at your house or a restaurant
    - if catering is limiting the numbers, offer to have people bring a plate
    - if money is the issue, ask if people would mind contributing a small amount towards all the food

You didn't say why your mil has said 10- do you know yourself? If not I would find a nice passive way of asking

I think it might be a space issue - but I will ask.
Originally I was going to throw this myself, so it's nice that she has taken some of the stress off me.

It can be a reaction to a virus they've both been exposed to. Doesn't mean they'll get sick or anything, can just be the bodies reaction to exposure to it. Would explain the few days apart as well.

Crisis averted! Hubby called his mum to have a chat to her, and apparently she was only "estimating" 10 people. My list is totally fine. I love this woman.

Grr why is it so hard to get to daycare? Its like 10 minutes up the road so i thought it would be fine. But the roundabout i need to cross at is ridiculously busy in the mornings & afternoons. There is literally no other way to get across to the daycare centre.

I stood at the roundabout for 10 minutes the other day trying to figure out when to go as i was struggling to find a gap. Im not good with roundabouts anyway & when its not as simple as just quickly running across in a tiny gap (i have the pram with me) its really hard. Also when 95% of people either dont indicate at all or indicate incorrectly its just a guessing game.

The pram almost got hit by a car the other day who was indicating right (so i thought it was safe to go) then she decided she was turning off (still indicating right *facepalm*). If i hadnt ripped the pram back onto the footpath very quickly she would have hit the front of the pram with my 10 month old son in it!

I almost have a panic attack every time i get to that roundabout now as im terrified of ds getting killed or injured, but theres no other way . Why is everything so hard???

@heartstringz I would turn the corner and walk down the road a bit then cross and come back up the road. That way you're not right in the centre where it is super busy.

Its a really busy road & the only refuge islands are at the roundabout. So if i walk down the road id need to run across both lanes with the pram.

Most overused word of 2015 - bespoke! Just. Shut. Up! Custom made was fine in every reality renovation show for the last 10 years but all of a sudden, no! It's bespoke!
