Default When to announce our pregnancy to family?

With our first we told family as soon as we found out. With the other 3 and miscarriages we kept it quiet from everyone until after 12 weeks.
It's so hard to keep it quiet though when you are so excited!!

    About 7 weeks with DD
About 6 weeks at Xmas with the baby we lost. I miscarried the following day.
About 12 weeks with DS which was the first time we saw them in person after finding out we were pregnant.
Eta - I would tell my very close friends before my family because I see them more and I lean on them for support more.

This is our story too! Exactly!

tell whoever you like, when you're both happy to.
If there are people in your family who can't keep secrets, don't think this will be different. It won't!

Apart from hubby it didn't tell anyone until the 12 week scan. I didn't want to have to talk to people and explain if something went wrong. I think second time around I even waited to 14 weeks before telling my parents- they go on and on and it just annoys me. Besides I couldn't trust them to keep their mouths shut.

Didn't tell anyone until 12 weeks.

We decided to not make any announcement on Facebook but that didn't stop SIL going on there within 5 minutes of us telling her and announcing our news on her wall, complete with my due date!! Took her 8 hours to remove the post after we asked her too, by which time the damage was done.

She is now blocked from my newsfeed so can see nothing I post and will be the last person I tell when we have our next child...

Told close family around 8 weeks, after the dating scan, with all three of our kids.

For my first pregnancy, I think we told our parents at around 8 weeks, and some close friends around that time also. Told work at around 11-12 weeks as I had to take leave due to issues with the pregnancy, which we lost at 13 weeks.

Second pregnancy, we told parents a lot earlier and some friends earlier also, but I can't remember when. I just couldn't go through another roller coaster early pregnancy and loss without having people to talk to. I can't imagine having to hide that experience from the people i'm closest to.

This pregnancy, we told our parents at 5 weeks. They know we have fertility problems and have helped out with DD for specialist appointments. And I want to have people to talk to. Might hold off telling friends until a bit later.
