Regarding the envelopes, in the book she mentions that whole "odds" aren't really in their favour, with regards to the victor's children are more likely to be reaped (despite the fact they only would have their names in a few times, as they wouldn't have to put them in for extra food) so clearly they tamper with that stuff - what's changing the contents of an envelope...?

Yes I think what the ending was lacking was a big punch in the guts? Something to make you go "omfg nooooooo"! But I'm so torn. I need so desperately for Katniss and Peeta to be ok that whilst the ending isn't amazing, I'm still kind of ok with it?

At the risk of bringing up an embarrassing topic... When I finished reading the twilight books (omg can't believe I've admitted to it in writing!) and no Cullen died I felt mighty peeved off about it. It was such a neat and happy convent ending and I felt jibbed.

HG is kind if the same... But she does lose Prim (totally need to put a spoiler warning in the title and op- a job for tomorrow on the pc!) and in a way loses gale too... So I'm ok with it?! Does that make sense? Not to mention that the whole of 12 needs rebuilding!

I was thinking about this before. For the book to definitely say that the envelopes were tampered with, someone would have had to have told Katniss since the book is in the first person. No one actually comes out and says it though.

Also, Plutarch says that he had no idea that that is what the quarter quell envelope contained- when he gave her the clock clue he merely thought she would be a mentor- in the movie cut scene he is the one to change it.
But the luxury of the movie as opposed to the book is we can see things apart from Katniss. In the book, again because its first person Katniss either had to be there or be told about it. So... I'm still on the fence about it.

So this is what makes me annoyed:

Prim dies. Katniss volunteers in the hope that that won't happen. But she dies anyway. Completely futile. How many died as a result of her trying to save someone that dies anyway? Depressing.

    Also. Twilight?

    Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

*whispers* the first one was quite frightening and I didn't mind the rest.

I guess the only other thing I felt was missing was a grand gesture of love from Katniss for Peeta - I wish she really close him, not so much just the continued theme that she loved whichever one she was with at the time. Lol.

In the end I had more feelings about her making good with the cat than getting together with Peeta.

    Secret twilight buddies! Shh!

I kind of always thought prim would die. Frankly I was surprised she lasted as long as she did. The real surprise actually was how she died. That sucked. Because as much as I am team Peeta, I also wanted gale and Katniss to remain friends.

And I apologise for not capitalising gale. My phone does not recognise it as a noun. I'm too lazy to change it. But not lazy enough to stop from writing a whole paragraph about it.

I hadn't thought about that. But you're so right! Now I feel desperate for Katniss to love Peeta like he had always loved her.
Now I'm super annoyed. Love him for gods sake, Katniss! Don't just grow towards each other, full on love him!
    Feeling ragey now!!

That's why I wish she died for him. Because she was already so damaged she'd never be able to love him right, at least she could do an awesome job of dying for him.

But I wouldn't have found that acceptable either! Maybe she wrote herself into a corner and couldn't find that perfect ending?
