Default Enough sex to get pregnant?

I know it only takes one little sperm to fertilize the egg but last month we had no luck and only had sex twice on day 10 and day 12.

This month we tried on day 10,11,12 and 13 by day 14 I was so sore we could not try but I think we will again on day 15.

I read that day 14 is THE DAY to be trying but i also read that spem can live and wait inside the tubes for 3 days.

    Thoughts?

Not everyone ovulates on day 14.

You're best bet would be to have sex every 2-3 days from when your period ends.

There are so many variables. As MummyK said, not everyone ovulates day 14. For me it can be from day 14-21. The baby I'm carrying was day 19 or 20 from memory. It can also depend on your partner's sperm count and age. If he has a good count then every day leading up is a good idea. But if he's 40+ and his count isn't fabulous every day doesn't give them time to build up so every 2nd or 3rd day is better.

Not everyone ovulates on CD14, i myself was ovulating around CD18.

Perhaps get yourself some ovulation predictor kits which will help you narrow down when you are ovulating. Also keep an eye on your cervical mucus. Leading up to ovulation it will change to an egg white consistency and stay that way until you ovulate, once it changes you will know you have ovulated.

Also as the others have said, best to have sex every second day rather than every day. Sperm lasts up to 5 - 7 days, so you will cover all bases if you are doing it every second day.

    Good luck

thank you. I have a text book 28 day cycle and have been using the cheap ebay ovulation sticks. They have indicated that day 14 is my ovulation time.

Another question I have is: The first day of your period is that day 1 of yoru cycle? or is the next day mean to be day one?

First day of period is CD 1.

I Ovulate on day 14 of a 28 day cycle. It still took 11 cycles to get my BFP, the successful cycle we DTD on day 11 and day 13.

Prior to my BFP I had visited a fertility specialist (got my BFP in the end without any help). He recommended DTD every second day from day 10.

With my current pregnancy we had sex twice. Once on day 22 and once on day 27. I clearly must have ovulated late, but this just shows there's often no rhyme or reason to it.

I would say if you always have 28 day cycles then I would say morning of cd13 would be optimal to catch the egg

With my current pregnancy I used a free Ovulation tracker app and fell during the second cycle. I was pleasantly surprised how accurate it was !!!
