Oh love. What a rollercoaster. I don't blame you for being upset. And it's even worse when you have to deal with the bad news calls at work and somehow carry on - revolting. You have had more than your fair share of crap - surely it has to be time for some good news soon

No Keiko! I am so sad to hear this. Like Mrs Chino said you have had more than your fair share! I'm so upset by this. The cost is so unfair. I know we are the same even to be able to do another transfer will be a challenge. I pray somehow you can still get an outcome from this. What does an early blast mean? To me that sounds good 😕 am I right to say they can't take cells for testing though? I'm so sorry makes it so much worse being at work. Thinking of you and praying for a miracle x

@Keiko2012 - I'm so sorry, God this bloody sucks doesn't it. There's just no guarantees. Similar thing happened my most recent cycle- decent egg numbers, great fert (our fert is usually only 50% and this time 7/8 fertilized) and all was looking ok at day 3 and then the wheels fell off at day 4/5. I just want a decent answer on if we should be looking at transferring at day 3 in the hope they have a better chance in than out but my last FS was so adamant if they wouldn't survive in the dish they wouldn't be viable. Have you only done day 5 transfers?
I hope you are ok. Are you with a full cost clinic? The last cheaper clinic I went with was actually decent, did 5 day transfers and was incredibly well priced- I can let you know where it was if that's of any interest to you. I think I just need more intervention and a different cycle type which is why I'm changing. It was literally so much cheaper we could cycle every month if we stayed. @Heyside - how was your appointment? Wazza cycles are the normal QFG fee plus his fee which is about 900 I think - he does the scans himself however lots of his patients cycle remotely and get scanned locally with the results sent to him. I used saizen at a cost of 600 however Wazza uses bigger doses so I believe the cost is closer to 1000 and he also prescribes melatonin and DHEA which is another 100 to get compounded. I got some half price coenzyme q10 today at woolies - it's on sale this week so stock up if need be ladies!

@Ducky01 does that clinic do donor sperm? We are with a full cost one because the low cost clinics don't have donor sperm. I'm still at work. Nearly time to go home. The phone call this pm wasn't any better. Embryo wasn't really doing anything. I just don't understand why they stop growing when I get so many eggs! So overwhelmed and devastated. This dream is becoming that... Just a dream 😩😢

@Keiko2012 - no sorry they don't do donor- I don't think any low cost ones do- I didn't realise you were using donor sperm, sorry. Makes things that little bit harder! Will you transfer the blastocyst if it's not fit for freezing? May I ask why you are doing PGD after only one stim cycle? I guess it's something we should look at. Hope you are ok- not all hope is lost yet!!!!

Ducky - I have just been on the QFG website to look at fees which lists their out of pocket fees at $3150, I need to find out what the out of pocket fees are my current clinic as we have been told a basic ivf cost is over $8000. We haven't done a full stimulated cycle with them before as we went with their sister budget clinic last time. I presume if you see Wazza for scans he also charges an appointment fee on top each time you see him or is that included? I used saizen at a cost of 600 however Wazza uses bigger doses so I believe the cost is closer to 1000 and he also prescribes melatonin and DHEA which is another 100 to get compounded. I got some half price coenzyme q10 today at woolies - it's on sale this week so stock up if need be ladie

Keiko - I am so sorry hun to read the news of your embies, I can't believe at times how hard life can be especially on this journey, we think we have hit rock bottom but somehow life manages to throw more crap our way. Big hugs hun thinking of you, still hoping for a miracle for you overnight.

After going to see the nurse and doctor yesterday its been decided we will talke a bit of time to see a nautropath and see what she can do for us. My dctr also isnt too keen on naturapaths himself but apparently he likes the way this particular one works, she uses blood tests rather than assuming things and make decisions from there. I am also having a series of blood tests to check things over and DH will have his sperm tested. When all that is done lol then we will move onto menopur. My dctr is also doing more research into the growth hormones.

I still have big reservations about the naturopath though and I keep wondering if we are going to be wasting our time. Waiting a few months will also mean we will end up delaying our appointment with wazza. So confused at the moment and wondering where to go from here

None have made it. Apparently the 3 that did reach blastocyst stage had no inner cell mass or it wasn't normal. So no answers and don't know where to go from here. Life is a cruel joke sometimes.

Re costs, I am with QFG and they have their base rate plus whatever your specialist charges, so it can vary quite a bit from FS to FS. I thought I would break down what we paid this cycle in case it is helpful for anyone.

    IVF with ICSI: $8640
FS planning and management fee (he gap covers EPU and ET if you have PHI): $565
    Anaesthetist: $92
    Total: $9297
    Medicare refund: $5809
    Total out of pocket: $3488

We were planning to do PGD, but none of the embryos were good enough quality, so we didn’t in the end. But if we had, there were two options:

    1. Quick option, whereby embryos are biopsied, the cells are sent to Melbourne and results are known by day 5 allowing for fresh transfer - $3500 ish regardless of how many embryos are tested (no medicare rebate)
    2. Slow option, whereby embryos are biopsied and then frozen while testing takes place - $700 ish per embryo (no medicare rebate)

@Keiko2012 I’m so sorry. Will you have a meeting with FS to debrief about all of this? Thinking of you love

@Ree888 Was it tomorrow you were having your procedure? Good luck – hope it all goes smoothly.

@StillHopeful Hang in there – the TWW is just awful. Will you POAS do you think??

@Heyside I also responded better to menopur than gonal f (in terms of E2 levels and even-ness of follie size) – obviously everyone is different, but it’s worth a shot I reckon. As for the naturopath, I understand your reservations. You could always go along for a consultation and make a decision whether or not to continue based on your impressions?

@Ducky01 and @Sariele That’s interesting about the saizen, thanks for the info – I might ask my FS about that. We also get an okay number at EPU, good fert rates and then they just drop off at a rate of knots. We’ve never had any make it to day 5, and never had any to freeze, despite having had 33 eggs collected, and 20 embryos now. We did the extra dna frag tests on DH and all was good there, so FS thinks it is my eggs. Frustrating.

Afm, nothing much going on. I’ll go and see FS next week and have the usual ‘wtf just happened, where to from here’ discussion so hopefully we’ll have a plan or some options after that. Who knows…
